From a famiy history written by Clarence William Clary in 1970 and added to in 1984 related to Battreall family.
"Ethel and Milton have been foster parents to 269 disadvantaged children from the age of 18 days to 17 years. Most were under four years of age. They have pictures of every one of the children they have loved and cared for in the last 30 years. Milton and Ethel always wanted to take care of the children, but now her health is bad so they cannot, but she admits to still having the urge. This couple makes their home at 7404 NE 67th Avenue, Vancouver, Washington 98661 (1984)."

The Cemetery is one of the most beautiful that I have seen. I am so happy that both of my parents are there side by side. When my mother passed away in 1960, my Dad said that he had purchased the plots and described it to me. At first I was really upset. I had just attended a paupers funeral in Boston, MA and they only had brick size stones with numbers of them to mark the place. When my Dad said that the tombstone was a plaque that was laid in the ground, I was adamant that my mother would not be buried in a place like that. I was won over though when my father brought me to the cemetery to see it for myself. I do not regret that they are there and especially in the Garden of the Resurrection.

Name: Diane Goodboe <dgoodboe@gmail.com> Date: 2009-01-30 Do you have ancestors buried here? Names? Which cemetery? Vancouver Barracks cemetery Do you have pictures or stories to share? See Findagrave.com for William F. Pancoast. Can you help us in other ways with this project? I can chart the Pancoast family on the maternal side back to VA, and to me through one daughter, Annie Conlin Pancoast. Comments:
William Francis Pancoast is buried here in Vancouver Barracks cemetery. His mother was Virginia Ann "Jennie" PERRY of Fredericksburg, VA. Her first husband and father of William's three half-siblings was an Irish immigrant out of Indiana and Civil War vet named James CONLIN. James' fate is unknown at this time and presumably he died young.
Whatever happened to James CONLIN, his widow Jennie PERRY CONLIN remarried another soldier, Francis L. PANCOAST. Jennie had 3 children with first husband James CONLIN and 4 more with Francis L. PANCOAST. Their first son, William Francis PANCOAST, was born in 1874 in Port Townsend, WA Territory, presumably because his father was stationed there with the army.
William F. PANCOAST worked as a house painter before enlisting on 2 Dec 1895 in the army. He served in the Spanish-American War as a private in Co. E 14th Infantry. His discharge notes listed him as having given "excellent service at Manila, Philippine Islands". He was briefly married to Martha SEARLES. They wed on 24 Feb 1914 in Clark Co, WA but apparently divorced, as there is another marriage record for Martha some years later in Clark Co., WA.
At some point William moved to Oakland, CA and worked as a bartender, according to federal census. He died in his home in Yountville, CA but his funeral and military burial were held in Vancouver, WA. He left no known children.

I am the great-great granddaughter of Milton and Catherine Rhorer. His last name should be Rhorer, his father was Rohrer (indicating slaveholder of the Rohrers, Rhorer occured for non-slaveholder). Milton and Kate are not in same plot w/Edward, Ella, Minnie & Milton because of the Morovian belief of wife & husband are not to be buried together. Minnie is the baby sister of Edward not his wife. 1st wife-Ella, 2nd wife-Mary (died in Toledo WA or Portland after Edward)

I lived next to the land where this cemetery is, around 1947 to 1954. I used to play in the cemetery but the neighbor cows started pushing their way into the cemetery and I am sure they broke off stones. I always remembered that name "Knight" because I read the stones.

A THANK YOU to whoever gave the time to not only list each burial, but connect them to parents, spouces and children.
I am working on a long-term project that just happens to have many burials in this cemetery.
Actually, my life began in Washougal. And in the cemetery are my cousin's grandparents, who I knewm but she didn't. Someday I hope to go find their plots.
Thank you, volunteers.

These Trissler/Trisler folks were the descendants of Curtis Trisler, Civil War soldier serving for Washington D. C., and who was still a soldier in 1880 Federal Census, Clatsop Co., Oregon, but came to Clark by 1883. Curtis apparently died by 1883 as Mrs. Artmishia Trisler married S. H. Smith and had son John H. Smith in April 1885 here. Mrs. Artimishia Smith is buried in Park Hill Cemetery. Don't know where Curtis Trisler is buried, but suspect he is in Vancouver Barracks cemetery as his son, Joseph Trisler was buried there on Feb. 27, 1908, aged 32 years.

I appreciated seeing the transcription on the death and burial of Emma W. [Jenkins] Page, she was half sister to my Grandmother. I did not have any information on her death except where she died. [Do you now how hard it is to search the name Page/] Anyway, I would like to share more information on her as she died a long way from where she was born. Her birth date is correct and she was born Pewamo, Allegan Co., MI a daughter of Rev. Algernon Sidney Jenkins an Methodist Episcopal Local Preacher, and his first wife, Mary Jane Miller. Mary Jane died in 1864, the year that Emma was born. I have no way of knowing as of yet what was the cause of death. In the 1870 Census, Emma and her full sister, Alice E. Jenkins were in the home of their Miller grandparents, Adam Wealty Miller and his wife Sarah Ann[Barton]Miller. After Emma's death Reuben Page returned to MI where he died in Plainwell, Allegan Co., MI in 1950.

I and my five siblings are trying to locate the gravesite of our oldest brother, Robert Earl Passwaters d. Jan 17, 1944. Our parents, both now deceased, always said that he is buried at the "Dollar's Corner Cemetery", but none of us siblings has ever been to the gravesite, and we would like to locate and visit his gravesite. We lived in La Center at the time he died in 1944. In my searching, it appears that there is no cemetery specifically named "Dollar's Corner Cemetery", so I am trying to locate the cemetery at or near Dollar's Corner where our older brother is buried. His full name is "Robert Earl Passwaters", but he was always called "Earl Jr.". We don't know whether there is any grave marker for him, or not. Thank you for your assistance.

My G-Grandmother Mathildia Jane Weigle/Wigle Brinn. I've always searched for any info on A J Brinn. I've never heard that AJ returned. Family history says Edwin is son of Mr Stanwood? Also heard that "Mr Holstein was very mean so the Brinn children ran him off". Would it be possible to have a copy of the information you have listed for Mathildia & Ingersol I believe it was pg 45. Thanks...

Any way to get a clearer map of the different sections? Cannot locate Aune Kuzma, Emma and Elmer Lampi in D-85-1,2 &3, nor Vienna Tompkins A119-8. I believe A is the Section, the next numbers are the graves going clockwise and the last number is the row? I am thinking Vienna Tompkins A-119-8 might be near Esther Carpenter A-121-10? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much.
