when I found the Presley Queries.
I have information for Holden Presley,He married the daughter of Elbert Jones and Catherine Fountain.
Martha Ann Jones b. abt 1830 probably in Montgomery Co. Ala.
M. Holden Presley abt 1846 probably in Conecuh Co. Al.
Martha Ann E died between 1870- 1880 Santa Rosa Co. Fla.
Holden Presley Married Alice Powell.Oct. 22, 1878.
Holden was born 1824, died before 1900 census and is buried inthe Crain Cemetery in sec7, #403 in the town of Pace, Fla. near Milton, Santa Rosa Co. Fla.
Holden's sister Mary Presley B.abt 1832 AL. (1850 censusConecuh Co. Al.p380) date of her death may have been 1855. Mary and Holden's parents may have had a connection with Floyd Presley, and that they was indian.

My great-grandmother was Isabel (Isabella) Presley. She married Asa White in the early 1850s in Butler County, AL.
They moved to Baldwin County Alabama shortly afterwards.
Their oldest son was Alex White and the youngest Cyrus White, b 1862., my grandfather.
Asa White died in Pensacola, FL in 1864. Isabella remarried some time afterwards. I'd like to know who she married and when and where did she die. Thanks

Looking for information about the ancestry and family of Sarah Pressley, born about 1765. Sarah married Levi House (b. 1754 MD), a half-Shawnee veteran of the Revolution.
Levi entered the military from southwestern PA, and they seem to have continued to live in PA until some time after 1785, when they moved to KY, possibly Harrodsburg. Levi's stepmother was Nellie Harrod House, sister of the founders of Harrodsburg. Anecdote says that she was born in KY, but several of her children said they were born in PA, so her birth in KY seems unlikely, unless Levi travelled to KY, took her back to PA, and returned several years later to KY.
Around 1810, Levi and Sarah settled in Jefferson County, Indiana, and Levi ultimately died in the home of his daughter in Ripley Co IN. We aren't sure when or where Sarah died. We can't seem to find any likely Pressley families to associate with Sarah. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Regards, Jim Patrick - tambaymar<at>aol.com

I am a decendant of Johannes V Preslar. My great great grandparents are Valentine & Susan Morton Presley, parents of my great grandfather Andrew Milton Presly who married Judah Hayes and later, Mary L. Ferrell. My grandfather Enoch Presley is the son of Andrew Milton & Mary Ferrell, who's son Luther is my dad. I have found all sorts of info on Andrew Milton Presley & Juday Hayes but hardly anything on the children of Andrew M. & Mary Ferrell. If anyone has any info on this, I would sooo appreciate it. Should have given more information. Charles Eugene Presley was name of my Dad's father. I know he lived in Detroit, Michigan at one time but my Dad as born in Kentucky where my grandmother originated. Charles Eugene Presley and my grandmother Thelma Ramey Presley (later re-married) divorced when my Dad was very young. Would like information on Charles Eugene Presley, his family, or both. His son, Gary Edward Presley, was born May 25, 1950. That's my father. He currently lives in Georgia. To my knowlege, Charles Eugene Presley's family lived in the Lexington, KY area when he and my grandmother met.

Hello all, my great grandfather was Winfield Scott Pressler b abt 1894 m. Ruth Iola Dubbs in Huntington, IN. His father (my GGgrandfather) was Joseph C. Pressler b. abt 1858 m. Lillie May Sutton in Huntington, IN. This is where I hit my brick wall. I think perhaps his father might have been a man by the name of Jacob Presler (Pressler, Prestler), but am not at all certain of that. John Salathiel Preslar for many years one of Anson and Richmond Counties most beloved citizens died Friday night July 4,at 11:55 at the home of his daughter Mrs. J.L. Porter in Hamlet where he had made his home for thepast 5 or 6 years.
Mr. Preslar was born October 17, 1860 on the estate of his parents, the late John S. Preslar and Martha Ann Griffin near Polkton. He was the last survivor of one of Anson Counties most prominant families. His father having come to this country when the U.S. Govrnment was offering land at a nominal figure of 121/2 cents an acre as an inducent to settlers.
his father purchased several 100 acres of land in Lanesboro.in Anson County and was one of the first members of the first Board of Cmmisioners of Anson County after the Civil War.
While a young man, Mr. Preslar was a prominant merchant in Polkton. He was later in years a General Contractor and Lumber Mill operator residing in Wadesboro and Peachland. He was engaged in much work at Charlotte, but kept his residence in Anson County, except for a few years when he lived in Alabama.
His first marriage was to Malinda Tucker, daughter of George Tucker of the Hopewell Church Community in August 1880. To this union was born one son George Washington Preslar Rt. #1 Peachland.
His second marriage was to Flora Lee Little daughter of James K. Little of the Whitestore Community December 25,1888.To this union were born 8 Children, six of Whom survive. Those surviving are... Carl benson Preslar of Wadesboro and Fayettville, Frank Preslar of Peachland, W. Scott Preslar of Hamlet, Mrs. J.F. Moore of Spencer, Mrs. J.L. Porter of Hamlet, Mrs. S.E. Wainwright of Fayettville. Also surviving are 25 granchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, July 6 at 4:00 the Rev. Mr. Wilson officiating.
Burial was in The Pineview cemetery in Peachland.
* note the Birthdate is printed as 1860 in the original Obituary, but it is actually 1852. I guess this was a typo or someone had got dates mixed up

Mary Louise Preslar Shrader
Mrs. Shrader, age 68, of Charlotte, passed away on December 6, 2004 at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy. She was born November 18, 1936 to Joseph Alton and Mary Louanna Benfield Preslar in Lanesboro, NC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Preslar Duke, and two grandchildren, Robin Shrader and Scott McDaniel.
Mrs. Shrader was an animal lover, but especially loved birds, and was a generous person who gave often to the Feed the Children Fund.
Mrs. Shrader is survived by 4 children; Jimmy R. Shrader of Charlotte, Carolyn Arey and her husband Tim of Salisbury, Mary McDaniel and her husband Roger of Woodleaf, NC, and James Shrader and his wife Joyce of Atkinson, NC; one brother, Joseph Alton Preslar Jr. of Charlotte; one sister, Dollie Preslar Rush of Ranlo, NC; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Lou Shrader will be held Friday, December 10, 2004 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service-Charlotte, with the Reverend Dr. H.W. Pigg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Humane Society in Charlotte.

I just discovered more about my Preslar ancestors. I originally thought that I was related to Andreas Preslar but found out I wasn't. A cousin of mine discovered that we are dscendants of Hans Jurie through his son Elias. Elias married and had a son named John Preslar. John Preslar had a son named Levi Pressley. Levi was born in 1801 in Anson, NC. It is unknown when he died. Levi married Lorraine/Luraney Unknown. They had a son named Mias Pickney Presley born Feb 3,1837 in NC died April 21, 1920 in Missouri. Buried at Shiloh Cemetery in Thayer, MO. Milas married Mary Jane Smith and they had a child Sophronia Hollyann Presley born Oct 12, 1865 in Arkansas and died April 14,1947 in Thayer, MO. She is also buried in Shiloh Cemetery. Sophronia married Elijah Robert Fuller. They had a son named John Webb Fuller Sr. born Feb 19,1893 in MO died May 2,1967 in Thayer, Koshkonong,MO and is also buried in Shiloh Cemetery. John married Laura Belle Jewell. They had a child, Paul Leon Fuller Sr. born May 27, 1925 in Granite City, ILL and died Dec 21, 1976 in Granite City, ILL. Paul married (1st) to Pauline Baker. Henry Hightower Preslar and Henry Montezuma Preslar are the same person. About fifteen minates after my last visit I recieved a Notorized marriage cert. of the marriage of one Henry H. Preslar and Mary Matilda Hawkins. The marriage took place on 22 Nov 1881 at the residence of W.C.Hawkins (William Carroll Hawkins) Oneida, Oneida Co., Idaho.
We, the family in Louisiana, have always known Henry's middle name was Hightower, after his mother's family. We coold not prove it until now.
Henry was born 21 Aug 1853 at Sparta, Bienville Par., LA

Henry Montezuma* Preslar was born ca 1854 Sparta,Bienville Par., La.the oldest child and son of William Culpepper Preslar and Elizabeth Ann Hightower. He married Mary Matilda Hawkins some time in 1880-1881 at Marsh Center, Bannock Co.,Idaho. They had one son, Leslie Wilson Preslar B:14 sep 1882 Marsh Center, Idaho. Henry was not a good husband and soon after the birth of Leslie he vanishes without a trace. Leslie loked for his father the rest of his life without success.
Mary Hawkins married 2nd: Lehi Wright, 12 Sep 1888 and had seven children.
* In all my research i have never seen any proof that Henry's middle name was Montezuma, although it may well have been. The family in Louisiana thought it was Hightower, but they also had no proof.
In the family it is known that Henry was a rover and a gambler. I believe that he was in contact with one of his brothers,but did not want his whereabouts known and that he was in prison somewhere, but again, no one knows for shure.

My last name is now Evert.
However I have had four children Renee, Ethan, Ryan and Wesley.

It is said that his father was killed in the Civil War and his mother remarried to a man named Jones and moved west. My name is Lyman Victor STERLING. I was born in Denver, Colorado on April 26, 1927 at the Florence Crittenton Home located at 4901 W. Colfax (a home for unwed mothers) according to my State of Colorado (unsealed) Birth Certificate. My mother’s maiden name was Anna Elizabeth (or Ann) Preslar. At the time, she was 21 years old in 1927, born in Spur, Texas, but resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In 1944 when I attempted to enlist in the military services, I needed a Birth Certificate. My mother’s sister (Tinnie Ollie PRESLAR, my Aunt) who was extremely close to my mother throughout their lives, kept my mother’s dying secret and wish for my Aunt to look after and protect me. In this effort, my Aunt had my “originalö Birth Certificate sealed by court order and provided the Colorado Bureau of Vital Records with information regarding the “fatherö for the State to issue a “Corrected Birth Certificateö thus enabling me to join the service. At 17 years old this “correctedö Birth Certificate situation seemed unimportant.
The statistical information provided to the State by my Aunt said the following. Father’s Name: John DeWitt Sterling, Race: W, Birthplace: Illinois, Occupation: Salesman for mining equipment.
My mother passed away in 1943. Before her death, she gave my Aunt her personal Bible for her to pass on to me later in life. In 1986, my Aunt passed away and in her belongings was my mother’s Bible. The family information written in the Bible by my mother was completely different from the information provided to the State of Colorado by my Aunt concerning my Paternal Father. Number one it is a fact that the North declared war on the South.
Only less than 10% of southerners owned slaves.
The governments of the seperate states put us in that war.
Most of the people of the south didn't care about the slave issue because it did not concern them and by Hosea Preslars (my 2nd greatgrandfather)own mouth the Preslar family wanted to be neutral but the Northern soldiers raided his crops, stole his livestock and he himself was wounded while hideing his family in the woods. He was in a comma about 3 months but recovered.
We decendents of Preslar confederates have no reason for shame because we were defending our own land from invasion by a forign power (The Northern States) and had no choice in the matter.
In the Preslar family records the are many of us who did go to war but in my own opinion it was in self defence . I do not feel the confederate flag is a hate issue concerning slaves but more a reminder of the innocent people who died in the most inhumane war ever fought by Americans anywhere.
There were more deaths in the civil war than WWI, WWII, Korea and Viet Nam combined.

My great-grandmother Malinda Bressler was born abut 1852, in Ohio, I suspect Fairfield County. Her parents were Henry Bressler and Lydia Egolf, who eventually were original settlers of Whitley County, Indiana. Malinda married James C. Hickey 5 March 1872 in Waterloo, DeKalb County, Indiana. I have found that, at least as far as census records are concerned, Henry and Lydia did use the name Pressler also. I would like to find additional information about this family, and will share what I have.

PRESSLEY DAVIS was my gr-gr-grandfather. He was born in South Carolina on 4 July 1810 and died in Pike County, Alabama 15 March 1863. He was kicked by a mule and died of injuries soon afterward. Since he had an unusual given name, I wondered if PRESSLEY could have also been a surname in earlier generations.
