i'm trying to find out who James Benjamin Wright's father is. this is a story that has come down thru our family;
Grand Pa and Grand Ma Wright were born in Overton Texas,
in the mid 1860,s and migrated to Arkansas in the late 1800,s.
James and Yuridla came across Tesas to Arkansas with her family by covered wagon pulled by Oxen,s and settled on some land in Arkansas,known as the ball field near Georgetown, Arkansas and later Home-steaded
some land on Jones Island three miles from Georgetown.
On this land they built a log cabin around 1885 and this would be the home and birth place of their six childern. Grand Pa and Grand Ma Wright would live in the log cabin until Grand Ma Wright death in 1927.
Latter in the early 1900,s Grand Pa Wright moved to Georgetown to Live with His doughter Lillie and Her husband Authur Acree.
The cabin remained in excellent condition until a tornado destroyed in 1951.

Moses L. Wright was my great grandfather. His wife was Sarah Ellen Wright. You do not have a maiden name for her listed. It was Wray. Her father was TJ Wray from Putman County (Lexington ) Tn. She died in Hammon OK in 1938 at the age of 75. Moses & Sarah's oldest daughter, Hattie Alverta was my grandmother. Are you related to these Wrights? Mathias Wright founded Estelline Texas. I have been researching the Wright for a long time. I believe that Obediah Wright's father was John Wright. There is a John Wright that appears on some very early pre-statehood of Tennessee. He was listed as a trader. There were several Wrights, male and female, married around the same time in Knox County, TN. I believe them to be brothers and sisters. On the LDS site, there is one reference to John being the father of Obediah Wright, but nothing else. I know that there was a John Wright who had some early land grants before 1800 and around the 1800s. I believe that this John went to Overton with his family, but can't prove this. I have been tracing all the children of Obediah Wright and also those Wrights that got married in Knox co, TN at the same time. Would be very interested to know what you think about this. I also found on a site that Obediah Wright was born in Anson County, NC on 9-5- 1787. What about this?

I was just wondering what census you got the information from that says Jane Wright was the daughter of Thomas Wright and Lydia Cox?
Susan Westmoreland was my great grandmother. I have looked for her parents for over 20 years and the only thing I could find was she and Jane Westmoreland in the household of Craton Wright in Fentress Co. TN. in 1880. Jane was listed as a niece. Could this have been a mistake and she actually was Craton's sister? I also noticed on the 1880 census that Jane was listed as widowed. So this tells me that the Westmoreland that she had been married to died before 1880. I also wonder who the Westmoreland was that she married? Do you have any more information on Susan Westmoreland and Jane?
Susan married my great grandfather, (I have the marriage bond)Eli Parker Brown in Albany, Clinton Co. KY. 4/3/1896. They had five children. I have the information from those five children on.
I can't seem to find out where Susan came from nor how she died nor whre she is buried. My grandmother told me that Susan died when my grandmother was 6 years old. My grandmother, Noma Emaline Brown, was born 2/10/1901. So, Susan must have died around 1907.

The earliest known ancestor in my WRIGHT line is Rebel (Reb)Goodlett Wright. 1930 & 1920 Census for Humphreys Cty TN indicates he was born in Tn about 1877, he married Minnie Mayberry about 1902. Virginia, their daughter, said that Reb told the family he was on his own since he was 8 yrs old. His death certificate (abt 1937) gives his father's name as Lee WRIGHT, also that the family believed him to be an indian, but "in those days you did not talk about it".
