How you found our page searching for Great Grandparents
Names you are researching Elmer Weaver/Delta (Hall) Weaver
Comments:
Apparently we are incredibly distant relatives. I was searching for my Great Grandparents, whom I had the pleasure of meeting my Great Grandmother, Delta (Hall) Weaver. Elmer died of colon cancer WAAAY before I was born, and I attended Grandma Delta's funeral in April 1978 as a 9 year old girl.

Elmer and Delta had two living daughters: Juanita (Weaver# Burrows #still living at 92 years old#; and Helen #Weaver# (Truman# Middleton #still living at 84 years old). They also had a son, Grant, who died as a young toddler.

My Great Aunt Juanita #my grandmother's sister) had 6 children with her husband, Raymound Burrows: Linda (Burrows) Dominic (who just recently passed at 66 years old), Raymound Burrows, Jerrold Burrows (a genelogist still living), Janet (Burrows) Hill, Judy (Burrows) Shelton, and one other one that I can not remember.

Then my Great Grandmother Delta (Hall) Weaver had a younger daughter: Helen (Weaver) (Truman) Middleton. I am from this line of relatives from the younger daughter who is now currently 84 years old. My Grandmother Helen married Herbert Warren Truman, who was killed by a drunk driver in April 1969 when I was 3 months old.

Helen (Weaver) (Truman)Middleton and Herbert Warren Truman had 6 children in total, 5 are still living and one died as an infant: Robert Warren Truman (b. 8/23/45), Dale Edward Truman (b. 9/22/46), Lawrence Truman (b. 8/1/??), Daniel Truman (b. ???), Diane (Truman) Peterson (b. ???, and another infant girl who died shortly after birth.

My father is Helen and Herbert's second child: Dale Edward Truman. Dale Edward Truman married my mother Sylvia Jane (Bader) Truman on 4/10/68. They have 4 living children: ME: Sarah Marie (Truman) Khan (b. 1/27/69), my two brothers, Timothy Edward Truman (b. 10/8/70), Elmer Lewis Truman (b. 1/26/73), and my little sister, Rachel Delta (Truman) Sanford (b. 4/19/74).

My Second Cousin Jerrold Burrows (the living genelogist) has traced the descendancy of my grandfather (his Uncle Herbert), Herbert Warren Truman all the way down the line to former President Harry S Truman and beyond.

Comments:
I am interesting in finding information on Elizabeth Neubecker, daughter of Margaret Spare and Maritn Neubecker, who married Joseph Keller.

I saw your posting on Family Treemaker online and thought I write and ask how you determined that Elizabeth was their daughter. I have searched high and low for birth, baptismal records, etc. but have found nothing that definitively ties Elizabeth to her parents. May I inquiry as to how you made this determination? What documentation did you find that supports Elizabeth as their child? Bible records, etc?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you
Carole

I was doing some research when I came across you page. I noticed that you had Esther Mitchell born Nov 9th 1810 Died 13 Sep 1901 Married 29 Mar 1832 to Soten Sanford. That crossed my family tree her father was Maholn Mitchell and mother was Luticia Morgan and Maholn Father Was General Mitchell any way it your site help me find John Mitchell Esther Mitchell's Brother who married Maria Flick which leads down my family tree. I find it kinda ironic that I come across someone who their ancestry tree crosses mine.

Hi Wendy, I'm interested in your George Eckhardt, b. 1820 in Weisenborg. My Eckhardt ancestors came from Ingolsheim, a village in the district of Wissembourg and close to the city of Wissembourg. (It gets spelled a lot of ways) Do you know exactly where your ancestor was born? When he emigrated? I think there is a chance that our Eckhardts were distantly related. All of the Eckhardts of Ingolsheim came to America in stages. The name George is very common in the early years of this large family. I wonder......

Just wanted to say how very much I enjoyed going into your site, and reading about Henry Rosenberger, of Montgomery County. My grandmother was a granddaughter to Magdalena Rosenberger, who married Samuel Burkholder. Their daughter, Elizabeth Burkholder, was my grandmother's mother,......Elizabeth Burkholder married Jacob Hunsperger and thus, Magdalena (Rosenberger) Burkholder would have been my great, great grandmother? and Elizabeth (Burkholder)Hunsperger was my great grandmother. My grandmother was Laura Hunsperger, and she married (Newton) Brock Sault. My father was Sylvester Edward Sault, and my maiden name was Patricia Sault. Hope that's not too confusing for you!
Anyway, just thought I would write and let you know I am glad you have related the story of Henry Rosenberger for those that are very interested. If you want more details and haven't got them on the Canadian side, then let me know.
Kind Regards, Pat Jacobson

I have been doing work on my family off and on for the last 10 years. The Barr family is planning it first reunion next summer so I have tried to step up my work in that area. My grandmother, Mary Barr, had a daughter,Mary E. Haddock with her first husband, Robert Haddock. He died the same year of the birth. Mary Elizabeth married Charles Hohl in 1915. From census records it appears Charles died in the late 1920s. I think Mary E. lived until the 1960s. How are you related to the Hohls?

I am looking for all and any information on the Hillegas family. It looks like we follow the same lines. I am the granddaughter of Harriet Blanche Hillegas, she was the daughter of William H. Hillegas and the granddaughter of Joseph Hillegas, who came to Missouri in mid 1850s. Joseph was the son of Michael and Anna Yeakle and you can take it from there. I think we have a lot in common!

We have the article from the paper but it only says the 2 children were brought to the childerns home a few months earlier after their parents died. The census records he was born in the U S.

Samuel Walter Moyer (DOB March 12, 1879) is my grandfather. (You list him as Samuel M. Moyer) His parents are Sanuel M. Moyer and Mary H. I have been researching the Moyer line for awhile and have increased my searches since my son asked me to find what I could for him to have for his son someday.
Your research and your webpage are fantastic! We are living in Ohio and to research information in Pennsylvania was much more difficult before the internet.
I will share your web page with my son, I'm sure he will find it most interesting, too. Thank you for your work.
I do know that Samuel Water Moyer married Della May Hunsberger Long and they had four children. Samuel died about 1924 when my mother was only a toddler. Della remarried her brother-in-law, Jacob, when she was 72. I can give the names of Samuel and Della's children if you would want them.

I have the original marriage cert. I also have a book "Young Christian Pocket Book" with Amanda Fretz's name in it. I think Amanda was a friend of my g.aunt and her sisters Elizabeth Monteith Eckhart and Anna Jane (Jennie) Monteith Bates (my grandmother). I don't know how Amanda is related to Daniel Fretz.

Daniel and Emma had no children. They lived in a house on Limekiln Pk., Chalfont, Bucks Co., PA. The house was purchased from Emma by Dr. Rufe. The house is now owned by a veternarian. Daniel and Emma are buried in Chalfont in the cemetery at the Lutheran Church.

Hi Scotts,
Just retired and am starting to research the Sievenpiper geneology. I inherited from my father a copy of "A Brief History of John Valentine Kratz and a Genealogical Family Register" published 1892 Mennonite Publishing Co., Elkhart, Ind. I've noticed that the Meyers seem to have become the Moyers with a move from PA to Canada; do you have any information on that? I also wonder if there is any connection between Sievenpipers, Sevenpipers, and the Siebenpfeiffers (sp?)? One person has thought Nicholas Siebenpfeiffer became Nicholas Sievenpiper when he emigrated to Canada to avoid military service about 1800.
God bless. You have a very nice family. Tim Sievenpiper

I find your work extremely interesting and in accordance with what my research has found. However, I note one omission - Christian Bechtold, Christian Bechtel b. 17 NOV 1633, Georg Bechtel b. 1658, Hans Jacob Bechtel b. 1680 and d. 1739. You show 3 children,
Samuel Bechtel b. 1706, d. 15 JAN 1802
Martin David Bechtel b. 26 JAN 1709/10
George Bechtel b. 10 MAY 1710, d. 10 APR 1768
There was also a daughter Veronica, b. before 1710, d. after 1787, who married Christian Meyer (Moyer).
You show links with the Moyer family but have somehow missed the initial link between the Bechtel and Moyer families.
If my research is incorrect I would appreciate knowing, but thought you might be interested in this additional link for your wonderful work.
You are to be commended for the work you have done.
Thanks

Comments:
Dear Wendy,

My husband's grandmother was a Stauffer. We recently discovered in some family papers two original journals kept by Hans Stauffer when he brought his family here from Alzheim, Switzerland in 1709-1710.

A translation of the journals is published in GENEALOGY OF PENNSYLVANIA FAMILIES. That book mentions that Hans was the son of Daniel Stauffer, as mentioned in your website. I was wondering if you have any documentation or other source for Daniel. I am asking because other websites which are clearly the same Hans Stauffer list his father as also named Hans, son of Christian Stauffer, an Anabaptist preacher from Switzerland. (see http://www.gentree.com/cgi-bin/igmget/n=Stauffer?ID1491).

Any light you could shed on this would be appreciated.

Hi, Wendy,

Thank you so much for your contribution to us all. I started looking on the web a few years ago at my family genealogy....it has come to mean a lot to me, especially any bit of narrative that adds to our understanding of the lives of our ancestors. For me personally, the realization that my mennonite roots connects me to relatives who immigrated to be able to live freely the religious life they believed in has meant a great deal to me. At times I have found bits and pieces of their lives. I found that my grandfather was a conscientious objector during World War I who served as a medic instead of fighting....and then I found that in the Revolutionary War our ancestors were Mennonite conscientious objectors who helped in other ways .... The first time I got on line years ago, I had access to a site that had these narrative pieces and since have not been able to find them again.... I wondered if you have any suggestions about finding out more about the stories. And I wonder where your ancestors settled... in Pennsylvania perhaps? Thank you again so much!

site.{Great Website} I will try ancestry for the Hallman's
Hoping someone has put the Hallman's together as of 1960's
everything was in a big box that was left when a member of
the family died. Any way I just thought to look for the
Hallman's and here it is 2004!!!
Mary Rosenberry's geneology is interesting with her father
William Rosenberger and the children "Rosenberry" and then
her grandfather Samuel Hallman Married to Mary Rosenberger.
Very interesting.
Thanks for the info.

Hi Wendy,

I have just started researching part of my husband's family, the Stauffers. He is descended from Hans (John) Stauffer who came to Valley Forge from Alzheim, Switzerland in 1709-10. I can't tell if we are related to you or not. Hans had three sons, Jacob b. 1696, Daniel b. 1697, Henry b. 1700 and a sister Elizabeth who already had a child by the time they traveled in 1709. There is also mention of an Anneli Reissen or Amelia Stauffer who married Gerhardt Clements in 1702.

We have a translation from a diary he kept in which the translators mention that Ameila is referenced in the Stauffer-Stover family history you cited:
Fretz, A. J. The STAUFFER-STOVER Family History: a Genealogical Record of the Descendants of Henry Stauffer and other Stauffer Pioneers Together with Historical and Biographical Sketches and Illustrated with Portraits and other Illustrations. Pennsylvania: The Harleysville News, 1899.

Do you know where I could view a copy of this book? We live in Norristown.

Thanks for your help,
Lorraine Campman

Hello Wendy,Jeff and Family

I just happened to be browising our family Tree and happened to come across a Family member we share(Nancy Moyer), who would be the 1st wife of Hamilton Seburn. Hamilton went on to marry a Rosina Bretzler. They are the Parents of my Mothers, Mother (Ida (Seburn)Venator). Hamilton and Nancy had one Daughter Henretta,(Etta,Alice) who was born November 9,1875 and died at the early age of 24 years young on October 1, 1898. If you are interested I have a photograph of her as well a photo og Hamilton,His third Wife Mary Bretzler (Rosina's Sister) with Henrettia, Ida, Hatti & Benjamin.

There is an interesting story of the origin of the name Seburn (Born at Sea) that goes bach to the late 1700's with the first Seburn (Steven).

Sincerly & God Bless

Bob Hardison

What a wonderful home page. I was so pleased to see Charles Maschal's name. I believe he is my grandmother, Alice Maschal's, father. I have reference to 1871 that Charles and his family had moved from the Locust Valley Farm to Mount Carmel. My grandmother grew up in Mount Carmel, married Samuel Phillips and raised 7 children. I have no information on her other than her birth date Dec. 1870 (1900 census) and she died in 1941(husband's obit).
I paid Mount Carmel library to look for her obit. but so far no luck. My sister-in-law is related to Hillegas/Rosenburger in some way and I am trying to help her get started on research. I will keep in touch if I find anything new.

Congratulations on a great web site! My mother (Jane) is a Spare and I a 9th generation descendent of Leonard Spare. My mother has the 1931 Spare Family book refered to in your material, but your web site layout makes it much easier to research information. I visited the Spare cemetery at Wentz's Church yesterday and found many Spare headstones. I have pics and as my research continues I will pass this information to you should you desire. I have also contacted 2 other living Spare descendent through your guestbook and received a response from one already! Thanks again for your hard work and great website!

Hi you IUP'ers. Stumbled upon your home page while tracking Daniel Crumbacher's line (my gg grandfather). As you well know, the Harrolds are tangled up with the Myer, Fretz, Oberholtzer, Crumbacher, Detwiler, Wilderson families and on and on.
I 'm a lttle confused as you list three Detwiler childern as being born to Samuel and Susan Harrold. The Susan Harrold that married Jacob Detwiler was the daughter of Samuel and Susan Crumbacher Harrold. Samuel and Susan were the parents of my grandfather, Albert Harrold.
The other surprise was that you both graduated from IUP. I was on the faculty of the Psyc. department until 1971. Yes I miss the Oak Grove, but almost couldn't find it for all the new buildings that have sprung up. I was really lost when I visited the campus two years ago. Couldn't even find the psyc building. I see some of the new buildings are named after my contempories.
I was on a cruise ship last spring and found Bob Hermann and Bob Warren on the same ship. Had good time going over the olden days. There is a couple of IUPers who are related to me that may be your contempories, Mel and Jerri Cochran who work at the University registraation office. Their e-mail is mcphoto@adelphia.net. Hey, I'll check in with you guys later. Leo

Greetings Wendy...

I was very excited to not only find Mary S. Little and Charles Lezotte on your web page but to see the photos. My mother, sister and I have been working on the family tree for almost 20 years now but have not come across the photos you have. I think what you've done with the web page is wonderful! We did gather a lot of information from Suzie Lezotte's Family History and all of the information we have matches up with yours. We came across a small biography of Mary Little from Beaver Crossing Nebraska that said that she was the daughter of Joe Little who came to the US from Canada but we haven't found anything to verify the information. We have names and date for two more generations on the Charles Lezotte line. Please let me know if you have any interest in that information.

Regards

Roberta Brooks

Well, I'll look at what you have, and see if I can find any clues. We are probably related somewhere.

I mostly stumbled onto your page by accident. My surname is Proulx, and I was looking to see if there were very many people out there with my same exact name, and I think your site came up because I searched under +Jeff and +Proulx. As I have learned, there are lots and lots of Proulx's out there, but virtually none of us are related (Kinda like all the Smiths and Joneses). Anyway, I am an American of French-Canadian heritage, and I enjoyed your website--looking at all the Proulx's coming from Quebec. There are no Scotts in my family. Warm regards, Jeff Proulx, Saturday, 3/2/02.

Hi Wendy,
I am the great grandaughter of Emeric Boissoneau . Some of your info on him is incorrect, his mother is M. Guilmond.
that line is on my mothers side. The Gagnon line is on my fathers side through Mathurin and Charlotte Cauchon's daughter Marie Charlotte who married Charles Maret-Lepine on 29 sept.,1704. Isn't it fascinating how intertwined these early families are. Both my perents families came here to British Columbia in 1907 to 1910 and I,ve found so many common ancestors between the two families. Thanks for the information I,ve got. Flo

Thanks for posting so much interesting information on the Spare line! My husband, David Homsher, is a descendant of Daniel Homsher and Barbara Spare (So far, I've seen it spelled about five different ways, including Sparrin, Sperrin, Spearing . .)We're not nearly as far along in our genealogy as you are, but sites like your homepage are really exciting to find and tremendously helpful. My research shows that Barbara and Daniel actually had seven children, one of whom was Samuel Homsher, my husband's 5th great-grandfather. Would you be interested in trading gedcoms? Sounds like you stay pretty busy (we also have three young children and so I can do genealogy during naptime and after bedtime), but we would love to hear back from you. Thanks again for the history on the Spares!

Wendy! I made it! What a wonderful job you've done. I was surprised to see one of my old photos included and Tom enjoyed seeing himself and his cousins in one of the pictures. He noticed a photo hanging on the wall - of his father in uniform. How wonderful! We'll talk... Carmen

Hi Jeff & Wendy,

Thanks for sending me the hyperlink. I don't know why I was having so much trouble. Lve your site. It will take me a while and several trips back to "take it all in." I have the Morris family traced back to Rhymney in South Wales in the 1820's. But I'm having problems with the rest of the family (when they came over and from where). Any suggestions?

-Paul

I really enjoyed your web-page inputs. Lots of good info. You have a great family.

I am just getting started with my family history search. Have an awfully lot to learn I'm afraid. I am looking for Nathaniel Scott (1844-1919) who I believe moved to Missouri (unknown date). He was married to Betsy Jane McKim (1853-1900). Can you help me??

Thanks again for sharing your delightful web-page with us all. Joyce Johnston

I never knew my grandmother had more than one sibling. This is exciting!!!

Very nice, I'm impressed, as a disabled ex truckdriver, I don't as yet have the knowledge or ability to design a nice site like this. Also thank you as your information on rootsweb is what gave me the basic information to start searching my line, I knew about the 3 brothers at Beaver Dam, Albany, NY., but your information about Columbia County really helped as I only live 25 miles from there but had no idea that is where they had moved from. Thanks again.

You have a beautiful web site! This site is professional, intriguing, well-planned, user-friendly, and most importantly, it is a work of love! I truly enjoy visiting it, and will continue to do so in the future. It is by far one of the best I've seen on the Web, and it has motivated me to make some changes to my own homepage as well as to further investigate my own family's heritage. Thanks so much, and God bless you all as your beautiful family grows over the years. Best of luck in all your cyber endeavors.

Maybe I'll ask the question on the list. Should be interesting. More power to you. Holly

Cool web site, guys! I really missed you this time around. It was great to see
Brian again. I can't believe it had been so long. We played pool and listened to a cool band playing. They played all Beatles music, and sounded just like them. The singer, Brad Delp, used to sing for Boston. That was Saturday night. We ate all day Saturday. Looking forward to seeing you again when you guys come back, or if I get some money, I'll come to Pittsburg. Take care, Glenn

Thank you for signing my GuestBook!! I am like you- I really enjoy visiting other peoples web sites and getting new ideas! My biggest problem seems to be keeping myself from tinkering with my own homepage every time I turn around. I really need to concentrate on adding more surname pages. Although with most of my surnames, I really don't have enough information yet to put out there. A lot of my information comes from stories that my mom has told me- and not any written evidence that I can list as a source.
You are a lot braver than I am- with the use of borders on your web pages. So far, I haven't had the nerve to try that- am not sure just how to go about it. Can you give me some pointers?

Went back to see where I had to go to sign. Maybe we both should have the guestbook later, after the person has looked at the pages. What do you think?
