Hi,
I was wondering if one of your Sparks is names Russell Eugene Sparks and was in the US Army in WWII. If so did he remember my father-in-law Lewis Ralph Speed. We also have a picture or 2 that dad took of him, in uniform. Russell was a Staff Sargeant.
Thanks

Hi...I am Bill Petrous currently living in east TN. My grandmother on my mother's side of the family was Birma Armstrong (maiden name Birma Sparks). She was a sister to Robert S. Sparks. You have a photo of Robert, Claude, and Birma posted on your site when they were very young.

Birma married James Thompson Armstrong and they eventually moved to and lived in Indianapolis until their deaths. I believe both are buried in the West Union, OH cemetery.

I am researching the Sparks family of New Jersey. I have found Francis Anna Sparks b: Feb 1893 in PA; whose parents were Walter D (b 1863/5 in NJ) and Emma F. Myers b 1867 NJ. I did find in one Census a note that Walter D. Sparks' father was David, but have not found anything earlier.

I did find them in the Census for years 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930. Not sure if these are the same as your family tree, as we are only searching the free sections.

I am looking for my grandfather's first wife, Mary Maud Carpenter. I think she was born around 1881 some place in Kentucky. She was on the 1910 Census with my grandfather Lewis Pembrook Sparks "Pem". The name on the census report was transcribed as Sparkes, but I know it was them. They lived in Muhlenburg County, Kentucky in 1910, but then I can't find anything else about her or a son named James W. Sparks that was on that census report. My grandfather married Mary Frances Brown in February 1912 and my father, Robert Lewis Sparks, was born in November 1912, but I just can't find anything about his first wife. I am almost positive they did not divorce. I knew their daughter Marjorie that was on the census, but I was too young to be interested in genealogy before she died. Any clues?

Hi Carl !
I used to get the Sparks Quarterly and would read it from cover to cover. I still have them around here somewhere. I have researched my line for DAR back to John Perry Barnett whose granddaughter Mary Ann Barnett married a James Sparks. Need info about George Sparks who was part of the Cornstalk Militia in Flemming County Kentucky. I think he was the son of George Sparks who signed petition to form a new county out of Bourbon county which was pretty large at the time, and which became Nicholas county.
Any help is much appreciated

Robina Jane Sparks was born in 1931 and as a child lived with her Aunt, Olive Williamson, who we knew as Aunt Dickie, in Ohio. I knew my grandfather, Salathiel Robert Sparks and, his second wife, Penny Singleton, and although he died when I was 5, I still remember him. My mother is very private about her family, and I only met some of my Ohio Sparks relatives once or twice in my childhood. I would love to know more about the Sparks family.

Hi,
I'm probably not a direct relationship to your line, but my line goes back to the Fagners. John Fagner who married Dorothy, their son Edward, then his daughter Eliza b. 1884, in Lower Island Cove, Conception Bay, Newfoundland It would seem she was almost lost to many when she came down to Massachusetts around 1900-1908. She was my great grandmother. She married Caleb Reid in 1909, and they had one child. Ethel Bertha Reid Smith b. May 8, 1910, Somerville, MA passed on July 28, 2006 Harwich, MA. Eliza passed on in 1915 of tuberculosis. I know the connection is pretty far back, but I found this page on the off chance that maybe somehow someone would see it and have more information on my great grandmother. The only bits I know are her birth, marriage, and death dates and how she passed away. I know from the one picture of her that my family has that she was beautiful, with laughing eyes and that because she passed away so young, she will be forever seen that way. What I don't know is how she came down here, and when and if she was married up there or down here in Massachusetts. So many questions which I'm sure many other people have read, and with luck have had answered.

Just checking out some family history. My family is from Pikeville, Ky. My father is Ronald Sparks and grandfather is Earsel Sparks both from Pikeville, Ky and to my understanding, the Sparks family was a pretty big family there. I will do some recon and gather some family background info and see if it helps you at all. Thank you and your info I looked over was very interesting.

Hello Carl

My records show that we exchange a couple of emails back in late 2002.,

I am very very distantly connected to the STRICKLE's of Ohio through the circa 1923 (Ohio?) marriage of Veda J. STRICKLE (1900-1936), d/o Frank M. STRICKLE (1879-1958) & Emma L. WILES?/WYLES (b abt 1880 - d 1959), and Ulysses Stanley SLUSHER (1863-1942). Ulysses was a son of George Washington SLUSHER (1863-1942). George was a brother of my Greatgrandfather, Enoch Webster SLUSHER (1860-1914)..

My STRICKLE gemealogy webpage is located at URL:

http://community-2.webtv.net/oslushGen2/MySTRICKLEonnection/

I do have a specific question for you: My info is that Elmer Franklin STRICKLE (1894-1959) is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL. Is that correct?

Your photos show Elmer's 2nd wif's tombstone as Clara F. STRICKLE 1898-1972. Ask if you known date and place of birth and death? Date and place of marriage? and is she buried at the same cemetery?

Appreciate any corrections and/or additional info that you can add to my STRICKLE genealogy webpage.

Thanks,

Otis Slusher (in Florida)
