Thank you SOOOOO much for your all your hard work in transcribing these parish records and sharing them with us all.

Mt great grandfather, William King, son of John & Emily (nee Green), was born in Swanage in 1879. The family moved to Sydney, Australia when he was just two years old.

Thanks to your tremendous work, I have been able to go back a further 6 generations within the towns of Swanage & Langton alone. I descend from the KING, GREEN, FIFIELD, PHIPPARD, AYRES, WOODROW & WESTCOMBE families.

This has made me even more determined to make the trip to the UK as soon as possible and visit the beautiful towns of Dorset.

Thank you once again! I only wish the rest of the counties in England get this happening, so I can delve further into those sides of my family.

After 60 years still 'homesick' for that Green and Pleasant land. A 4.20 a.m call today from an old school friend in Langton prompted me to look on here! Over 10 years since I was 'home' last, and will probably not have the chance to go again now.
Many thanks. Pam.

It's always fascinating to dip into this wonderful resource and find something new each time. The records of the large sale of houses and farms as well as building plots in 1919 is most interesting. It shows that even then, nearly 90 years ago, people were buying property in Worth as holiday homes!
My wife is descended from the following lines; SMITH CORBEN BOWER PHIPPARD BENFIELD among others

Thanks for all of your hard work keeping this site alive. This is a really great site and wonderful for us across the pond. I love having pictures of the churchs. But, it is difficult to read the words on the dark green background.

I am decended from Mary Tollifield, born Langton Matravers 1821.
I never knew that this site existed until this month. This was after I had done my research during the past seven years -and still continuing. This site has helped me even further, in fact at times that I am back in the days of Mary Tollifield.
I wish to thank you for all the work that you and others have done on my behalf.
A strange and uncanny feeling, meeting all those people who have long gone, but peer out from your pages as if to say -yes I have been here, and you will join me one day, smile.
Once again thank you!

Fantastic website! Thankyou for your time and energy in creating this wonderful webpage. I have found it most useful in tracing my ancestors. I have been researching Issaac Brown (parents William Brown and Elizabeth Smith) and Louisa Marshfield (parents William Marshfield and Margaret Phippard). Keep up the great work and lets hope other towns follow your example.
