I am through Jacob > Samuel > George W. >Freeman...
Working on a mystery - Samuel appears to have had another son - Albert Edward (b. abt 1860) who does not appear in Cummer Memoranda but is in 1861 & 1871 census. I met granddaughter of Albert E. Cummer and am tracing linkage.
Cannot figure why he did not appear in Cummer Memorranda.

I am so glad that I found your website. My Mother's Mother was Elva Pearl Fisher, daughter of Peter J. and Elizabeth Allen. I have been trying to figure out why everyone on the Fisher search kept declaring that Herman was Jacob Sr.'s father when I determined that he would be the only child not born in Pennsylvania so you have cleared my discrepancy. Thank you. So do we have Jacob's parents yet?

Comments:
Albert's father was Byron Fisher, born in Indiana County PA, married Dora Mae Phillips and moved to central PA to raise their family. Albert is the third youngest of 9 children, most of whom still live in the Lock Haven area. He married me in Wisconsin and we have lived in West Bend WI since 1946.
I have found in the old German families all the sons were named with the first name the same and the second name is what they went by, so all the sons of John Jacob Fisher who came to America were named Jacob Herman, Jacob Henry, Jacob whatever came next. I am glad that custom went by the way of candlelight. I would like to have a copy of your book on the Fisher family. I am in contact with John B. Fisher of Salisbury NC, Jean Fisher Hall of Philadelphia, Mary Fisher Landrum of Bristol TN and Inez Allen of North Bay, Ontario Canada. I have found many inconsistencies in all or records and would like to compare notes. We have 4 great grandsons to carry onour line of the Fisher family and they are all in one family, living near LaCrosse WI. None of Albert's 3 brothers had grandsons. We are proud to be part of this family. Carol Fisher, 1034 Terrace Drive, West Bend WI 53095

From which Fisher branch are you descended? Frederick Fisher
How did you find out about my website? A friend just now sent it to me
Comments:
My brick wall is Frederick Fisher, born 7 Nov 1796 (according to his grave stone). He reported in the US PA census he was born in CT but I've never been able to connect him to anyone there. Frederick married Dollie Cole, daughter of Elisha Cole and Amy Salisbury ca 1819, in Bradford county, PA. He died on 14 May 1857 and is buried in Cole's cemetery between Monroeton and Towanda, Bradford county, PA.

Their oldest son's name was: John M. Fisher (1827-1840), other sons were: George W.; James Marvin; Frederick Willis and Charles Orlando. Daughters in order of birth - Laura M. (oldest child); Helen Lemira, Mary Avaline, and Isabel L. If one follows the old traditional naming, then Frederick's father would have been named John, but the couple didn't name the second son for Dollie's father (Elisha Cole) so am not sure about the name John being Frederick's father's name. My aunt, while yet a little girl, was told by my Great Grandmother (1865-1938) to never forget that our Fisher name was once spelled: F.I.S.C.H.E.R. I noticed you had 2 John's listed above - # 2 and # 10, so if you happen to know if either of them had a son they named Frederick, would so enjoy hearing from you.

My dad gave me a copy of the book years ago and it has always intrigued me that there is so much information about this family! I knew that I was a third generation(grandmother and aunt) "Carol" but had no idea until I saw the book that my great grandmother (daughter of Peter) was also a Carol. I got a real kick out of taking my kids to Black Creek Pioneer Village in Toronto which has the "Fisherville" church and school.. Sharon, you have done an amazing job with both the book and the website. Thank you so much!!

I have extensive info on the Schell family of Herkimer NY & later in Ontario Canada. But I have nothing on Elizabeth Fisher. Is Elizabeth Fisher found in your Fischer Family Line. Comments:
I was delighted to discover your site. It contained a lot about Jacob that I didn't know about including a different birth date along with his history. What I knew was basically limited to what my grandmother (Nettie Slyvia Fischer) had discovered. Which for the most part barely went beyond John Michael's move from the York area to near Benmiller in a bend of the Maitland River to the present day. Incidently my line did not know his first name was John, we had him simply as a second Michael as the 10th child versus the Michael in 1st position.

My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth (Betsy) Fisher,( 1798-1870) d/o Herman (Hermanus) Fisher(1771-1825) and Mary Cline (1765 - 1836) Elizabeth married my great-great grandfather John Peter Inglehart (1762-1877)on March 05, 1818, in Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario. I have pictures of John Peter and Elizabeth. Inglehart is variously spelled Engelhardt, Engelhart, Ingelhart, and so on. John Peter's father John II was probably born in Pennsylvania, but his father ,also John I,was born in Germany and emigrated to Maryland before 1792. Here are a couple of notes from my grandfather's papers:"The Ingleharts are of German origin and came from the Banks of the River Rhine.( The following is probably based on fact but I have not been able to verify it) John Inglehart I left Germany when a lad rather than serve in the army against his will. He started at night in a small boat, without the knowledge of his family, and in the morning, he could only see the blue sky line and the sea. He signalled a sailing vessel by putting his coat on an oar and holding it up. He was taken on board and arranged with the captain to work for him for three years for his passage to New York. The captain engaged him to a weaver of that port for three years. He served the time, and then stayed on until he had accumulated some money.(the following refers to John Inglehart's father - not his grandfather John I as above) Then (John II) went to Pennsylvania, and purchased some land near the line of Maryland. He married Miss (Magdalin) Bouslaw. They had six children. 1 John III 2 Peter 3 Jacob 4 Mary 5 Elizabeth 6 Susan" and "The Inglehart name should be Engelhardt which was the original way of spelling it. The corruption came about in changing from German to English. The Engelhardts, Bouslaus, Fishers and Clines were all Germans who emigrated to the U.S., settling in Maryland. In 1799 or 1800, they emigrated to Canada as U.E.L., settling in the Niagara Peninsula." (Herbert Inglehart's Family Notes)I have more information if you should want it. You have a marvellous site, and now I'm going to sit back and enjoy...and make sure I have all the Hermans and Jacobs straight..
