I am Jack Blanton of Rittman Oh, Cousin. My Blanton family has always been in Caroline and Essex Counties, Va. since the arrival of Thomas Blanton 1682. Charles Blanton was a Greatgrandson of Thomas and had a plantation in lower Caroline, Dawn,Va. He was my GreatGreatGreatGreat Grandfather. The only Blanton remaining in Caroline by 1800. He had a large family but his family held the lands until 1939. My Great Grandfather came to Tappahannock 30 miles from Dawn in 1887. According to the History of Caroline book printed 1924, it is supposed upon good authority the Blantons of caroline are French Hugeunots who fled to England before 1600. Thomas was likely the 3rd generation removed from France. In studing the Blandings history it is believed though family tales that the family one in the same as the Blantons lived in the area of Lyon France. This was a area where many Hugeunots were pressured early on to flee. There is a village near Lyon named Blandin. In England the name was used as Blanton, Blantin, Blantine. William Blanton or Blantine came to Boston 1639 and his family later used the name as Blanding.

Am trying to tie Thomas Blanton (1545-1697) to this John Blanton. May not be connected, tho.
My known family threads go from John (father)(b 1760) to son Isaac (b 1784) to son James (b 1810) to son Elihu P (b 1840) to son Luther (b 1879) to my mom.
Would like to connect with anyone with info on these ancestors.
Am writing a record (not a book) of passed down stories/info of what each did during their lifetimes for my decendants.

Hi Debbie, I have already written an e-mail to Jenelle pertaining to the Mixon, Texas Cemetary and Texas Marriages. These are my direct relatives, and I believe that John Blanton was my great-great-great grandfather. I have been to one Extended Family Blanton reunion with my aunt and parents, that was in the Red River hill country. Anyway, I am going to get with my mom and find out everything that I can. I just can't recall off the top of my head. Sorry! Loved the sites! God Bless You All!

I just completed reading the "Hughes Springs Texas Histories", published in 1986.
The book is not organized by page numbers, rather article numbers, article number 104, Goodson Community, was once the Plantation of the Blanton Family pre- Civil War. Have you every had the opportunity to reseach the Goodson Community to determine if there was actually a plantation or just a farm. I also read the history on Cass CO.Texas. The writer discusses the fact the early settlers brought with them their salves.Do you have any information to confirm if the Blanton's that settled in the Hughes Spring area actually had slaves? Also which Blanton's actually settled in the Hughes area?
My Great Grandmother Susan Blanton, born 1861, Walker Co. AL., daughter of Benjamin and Fatine(Timmie)Holly Blanton.
Susan married John Thomas Sanders, b. 1864, Walker CO. AL.
My primary line is the Sanders family. My mother Lillian Sanders, married Loyd Albert King.
John T. Sanders was the son of Marcus De Lafayette Sanders, b. 1827, Muscogee, GA. Marcus married Francis Ann(Riddlespurgers)or Spurgers, b.1830, d.1907, Walker CO. AL.
Hope to hear from you,
Sincerely,
