I did not know about Meredith Davis and am happy that you have some data on him. Has any more information been found about him and his ancestors?

I'm researching my DEBECK family line. My great great grandmother was Eleanor DEBECK married to Joseph WORMUTH. They lived in Sullivan County, NY. I'm well aware that most DEBECKs are in Maine and Canada. I have no idea how they met and got together. Eleanor was born around 1820. Her father was a Samuel DEBECK of Maine. That's about all I know. I have a picture of Eleanor. I'd like to know more. Thank you.

Hi Linda.

What an amazing site you have here.

My name is Graham Zeisner and I live in Ottawa, Ontario(mother - Hetty Hamilton; father - Rudolf Zeisner). My mother's Grandfather was William Hamilton of Valcarthier Quebec.

I have just started some research in preparation for a personal web page which of course will include some family background. I already have some information, but in my on-line research I came across you Web page by way of the Local Ireland chat site.

I totally amazed at the information that you have provided. I guess somehow we are related but I am not sure yet what the connection is. Quite frankly, I am in a bit of a state of shock. I have seen the picture of John Hamilton (my maternal great-grandfather and his wife Merle Lillew) before. I think my mother - who just turned 85 on 15 Nov. 2001 - has a copy. My father Rudolf passed away a little over 2 years ago at the ripe old age of 90. We had a private family funeral at my mother's request. My parents, especially my mother, were very private. In fact, my mother is completely disenfranchised from the rest of her family (7 brother/sisters)for some reasons that we can't quite figure out and she won't reveal. Her feelings are very deep rooted and go all the way back to the 1930's depression era in Saskatoon.

Just last fall I met my aunt Shirley (who lives in Lakefield Ont. about 2 hours from my home in Ottawa) and her husband Joe Large and my neice Denise (who now ironically lives in Ottawa) for the very first time in my life. I have never met any other neices/nephews/aunts/uncles on my mother's (Hamilton) side of the family. I have another aunt who lives very close to Shirley who I have not met!!!! What a shame.

Anyway, I could go on and on. The main thing is that I have resolved to complete the circle and do my best to connect the links. You have done an amazing job and your information/web site is a real inspiration to me.

I hope you get this e-mail and that we will continue to keep in touch.

Thanks again.

PS. I have a 15yr old daughter Sarah Hetty Zeisner and a 21 yr. old son - Theodore (Ted) Hamilton Zeisner.

This was my attempt to keep the Hamilton name going in my family.

I discovered Robert Piercy Dow's THE BOOK OF DOW more than 10 years ago and found it remarkable that what was known about the Dows in my family history matched almost exactly. Until then, my line ended with David Dow (1801-????) and Mary Way. THE BOOK OF DOW goes on with the descendents of David's son Amos Lewis Dow (1825-????) and Sophie Watson (although we had no record of Amos Jr.). I am a descendent of Amos' daughter Ada Dow (listed in THE BOOK OF DOW) who married James Wellington Blake (1853-1907). Their daughter, Bessie Viola (Blake) SWABY (1882-1968), was my great-grandmother of whom I have good memories of. Visit my website or contact me for more information. -GREGG WAGER

It's been a while since I checked out your site - great job!!! Like the new "look"! Must spend some time to check out the changes you've made - Wish we could get back into Ireland on the Hamilton's!! Maybe when I get through with my "will" reading in Yorkshire (1700's), England on my Smithson's I'll have to investigate how to do Ireland. But then we always get side tracked onto another line like me. I just found archive papers that have started me off into Scotland - Isle of Skye - Had these 150 pages of photocopies since August and just now getting started to try to put Family Group Sheets together. These papers are in a terrible sort of 'disarray'. But at least it's someplace to start, with that line of my family. Will talk to you soon.

Have been doing genealogical research for less than a year, so please excuse my naivete. I am tracing my several surnames which has led me to you. Note my middle name of Ray. That is for my Grandfather: Terry Vaughn Ray who had no sons. He was the youngest son of Samuel J. Ray, who was the son of Samuel Jr., the son of Samuel (and you know the rest).

I have information on Samuel J. Ray( 15 Sep 1833 - 28 Feb 1931) who was my mothers grandfather. We have photos and names of siblings if you are interested.

You are such a distant cousin that I will not barge in, but if any of the information I have would benefit you, my email is drh2u@yahoo.com.

Thank you for all the work you have done here which has given me the information or several previously unknown levels of my genealogy.

Interesting info. on your site. I was wondering if by chance there is a connection somewhere. My Gibson side:

Henrietta Gibson born 1827 Glasgow, Scotland
Brother - David Gibson born 1840's Canada

Their family moved to Montreal from Scotland and bought two farms, one in the municiaplity of Valcartier and the other in Jackcharchy which I am told is really a river and they referred to their ranch by the Jackcharchy.
Interesting is (connection by not quite right) Henrietta Gibson married a Joseph Ewing (Scotsman from Montreal when she was 22) and in 1850 they moved (with her brother David) to U.S. and settled in Humboldt County, California. Could there be a connection. I know my info. is correct, since I have documentation of such.... Let me know. thanks Barbara

How sure are you of the Aikin family tree. I am very confused with a couple of things. You have Mary2 Aikens born June 26, 1842 married to Thomas Smart Brooks. I have Thomas Smart Brokks married to Mary Millar. The children are the same.
I am also confused by Isaac Simon2 Aikens born Dec. 11, 1839 married to Mary Jane Hamilton. I do not have him at all. I have a Mary Jane Hamilton, born March 17, 1850, married to Alexander Aikins, born Dec 31, 1841. They had Mary - January 11, 1872; Joseph Adam - 1873; Alexander born March 27, 1876; Archibald Issac born August 16, 1879; and David born July 10, 1881.
