I am hoping to learn more about the Roberta P.Suttle referenced on your site (daughter of Alexander D. Suttle and Luvilda Ferrell). I live in Roane County, WV and have learned that my gg grandmother was named Roberta Suttle; however, you have no marriage information listed for the Roberta Suttle on your website. I am looking for my greatgrandfather Frank Welch, he married Maggie Johnson in Kentucky and they had two children Harry Hobert 1899 and Virginia 1902, then Maggie and Frank divorced. I was told he worked on a Riverboat and re married and had other children and also that he shot a man in a bar. I'm just guessing this happened in Kentucky. My Grandmother Virginia was born in Laurel Ky., Maggie was born in Missouri so I don't know where they met. Frank had a brother named Drew and half brother named Hobert. Any help would be wonderful. I am a son of him born and living in Germany.
His parents are Jesse Franklin Welch born 1874 in Germany and Liili mae Welch (birthname BROWN) 1887 in Irland.
They are living in keo/ Arkansas. I wonna know how they come to Arkansas and at what time and i wonna know more about my grandpa and my grandma. Lydia C. Gary was my 2nd great grandmother. Charles Lester Gary was my 1st cousin 3 times removed. Much of my research was optained from the Ethel Speers Updike book book, "Gary Family Of England To Virginia To South Carolina" and it has been supplimented by various other sources. I have been unable to determine ancestors of my 3rd great grandfather,Absolom Milton Gary, who was also Charles Lester Gary's 3rd great grandfather. Her daughter, Venna Icenhower is my grandmother who turned 90 on May 7 2007, Taylor Bullard is my grandfather (deceased) and they have six children together, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I'm trying to gather a little data on my Mitchell line and am not having a lot of luck. I descend from one William Wesley Mitchell (24 May 1857-28 Jan 1937) and Louise (Louisa) Fairchild. My William Wesley comes from Hancock/Pearl River County area of Mississippi. He spent most of his adult life in Jones County. My best guess is that he is the son of Pembroke George Washington Mitchell, however I can't prove it. Pembroke appears to be the 10th son of George Mitchell and Phoebe Ann Miller. You have some info wrong. My Dad is Calvert Wilson Smith. My grandfather is Calvert Maple Smith and My grandmother was Gertie Ellen (Mouser) Smith. My mother's name was Lois Ann (Shelton) (Smith) Dobson. She remaried several years after my father died in McNairy not in Pinetop. To be exact the news paper put it he died late Sunday evening, in a two-car accident one mile west of McNary on Highway 73. He was born June 10, 1936, at Clebit, Oklahoma. He had lived in Oklahoma till he cought rematic fever and it gave him and his sister Lue heart troubles to the point they had to have heart surgery after that. He lived in McNary the last 20 years of his life the last 5 of that ........If you want more info. e-mail me with some of what you have. My Dad has lots of kids and my mother has a lot more then that. Plus Lavel has kids and Ladean has kids and so on and on. Do you know the story behind the triplets dying? It was a home birth. Thomas H. WELCH and Amanda (Middlebrook) WELCH are the parents of my grgrgrandmother Sarah Jane WELCH. We have not been able to determine the parents & siblings of Thomas. We just keep going in circles, if you could take a look that would be great.

Amanda MIDDLEBROOK daughter of Ibzan MIDDLEBROOK & Jane C. CRAWFORD, b. about 1830, possibly in MS. Lived in MS, primarily Chickasaw Co. until moving into Nacogodches, Co.,TX. in 1844, where grandparents Jesse Crawford & Hanna Warren resided. Then into Limestone Co.TX.
Amanda married Thomas H. WELCH, maybe before they moved to Limestone Co., as she is enumerated on the 1850 Robertson Co.Census with husband Thomas H. WELCH and son Charles Ibzan WELCH who was born 7-12-1849. A daughter, Sarah Jane WELCH was born 12-15-1851. A second daughter, Harriet Calistine WELCH was born about 1852. Amanda died in childbirth.
Thomas and Amanda must have married sometime in 1848. Could have been Limestone County, Navarro County, Robertson County....but so far we have failed to find a marriage license.
The 1850 Robertson County Census indicates he was 26 years old and born in Missouri. He is enumerated with wife Amanda and son Charles I. WELCH, age lyr.
Thomas paid taxes in Robertson Co.1849 to 1851, skipped 1852.
Paid again in 1853 skipped 1854.
Paid Taxes in Karnes County, 1855.
That is last known of him.
No mention made of wife Amanda since 1850 Census.
Shortly after Amanda died, the children, Charles, Sarah and Harriet went to live with William M. Garrett and wife. When Thomas was no longer in the picture and guardianship was asked for, the first to ask was William M. Garrett and supposedly he got it., or was about to.
DISTRICT COURT CASE: Case before the court. Jane C. Galloway filed suit to become the guardian of Charles I. Welsh, and his two siblings, Sarah Jane Welsh and Harriet Calistine Welsh. Field in District Court Office, Karnes County, Texas Minute Book A, Page 84., Filed April, 1859.

1860 --Jane C. Galloway paid taxes on the minor Welch children
By 1880 ( date unknown, place unknown) Jane C. Galloway has died. She left a small parcel of land to her children and/or their heirs, located in Gonzales County, Texas. this is the same parcel of land that her mother, Hanna Warren Crawford left here when she died. The land was part of what Hanna received in the divorce from Jesse Crawford.

By April 1859 Jane C. Middlebrook GALLOWAY, grandmother, has been appointed Legal Guardian of the 3 minor children. Apparently Thomas has died about 1858, or left?
The three orphaned WELCH children may have also lived for periods of time with Cousin Margaret Ann BYARS and her husband William Mansfield GARRETT who were also attempting to gain custody.
In 1864 Sarah Jane married Thomas Jefferson CAVENDER. Charles I. married Mary E. RATLIFF in 1877-78. Know very little about Harriet but is said to have married Thomas Bryant SIRMON (45yrs her senior).

Jesse and Hannah (Warren) CRAWFORD came to Texas about 1847/48.
They had a daughter, Jane C. CRAWFORD that married Ibzan/Ibsant MIDDLEBROOK. They lived in Alabama and then moved to Mississippi.
One of their daughter's Melissa MIDDLEBROOK married John BYARS. They had a son, Joseph in 1842 and a daughter, Margaret in 1844. Both Melissa and John died by 1844.
Jane and Ibzan MIDDLEBROOK took the two orphaned children of Melissa and John Byars to raise.
Ibzan and Jane, all their children and the two BYARS grandchildren decided to move to Texas.
They first came to Nacogdoches Co [which is where Jesse CRAWFORD is living ] and we think Ibzan MIDDLEBROOK died there. Jane and all the children moved to Limestone County.
Jane and Ibzan MIDDLEBROOK had a daughter Amanda that married a man Thomas H. WELCH about 1848 in either Nacogdoches or Limestone County. They have three children.
Jane remarries to George GALLOWAY and her children decide to move to Karnes Co.
At some point after 1852 Amanda (Middlebrook) WELCH dies, and then by about 1857 Thomas WELCH also disappears.
We have documents from District court, Karnes Co.,where Jane (Crawford) Middlebrook GALLOWAY is trying to get guardianship of the three WELCH children.
About this point in time Margaret Ann BYARS has married William Mansfield GARRETT and they are also trying to be guardians of the WELCH children, Charles Ibzan Welch 8yrs, Sarah Jane Welch 6yrs, and Harriet Calistine Welch 5yrs.

I am real interested in the GW McBride from Moody as my ancestors are also from Moody. James Noah McBride and Martha Glenn McBride are mine. The 1900 census states that she had 7 children of which 6 were alive at the time. Their daughter Mary Ellen is my ggrandmother. however, the strange thing is that Martha's obit lists a son as George but we can't find a son named George on the census, and I have only identified 6 of the children so I don't know who the 7th is.
They are both buried at the cemetery in Moody. James Noah lived in Waco for a while and we have learned that martha was instituionalized for a while in her 50's. We don't know why. James died while she was there, and when she got out she was in Dallas in 1930 but she moved to someone named Erwin Thompson in Killeen and that is where she died. We don't know who he is or why she was there.
Mary Ellen died very young, and so did her husband, so we have lost the family history as my mothers dad didn't divulge and there was no one asking the questions.
Any help that you may offer would be most appreciated.

I am looking for a Sarah Welch, born Sep 27, 1808. She was from Washington County, Maryland. She married Alfred Carper August 19, 1830 in Frederick County, Virginia. I have been taking care of an 89 year old lady in a nursing home in Delaware, she has had no visitors in many years. Her name is Delilah Porter. Delilah married John Porter, whose mother was Lucy Welch, daughter of Nancy Welch. Delilah is currently not doing very well. I know that her husband John died in 1942 in Texas, but supposedly her three children, two boys and a girl, are all living. I believe the names of the children are Johnny, Curtis, and Recbecca. You have William M. Keeton's daughter "Allanona" listed as her name appears to be spelled on the 1880 Erath Co., TX, Precinct 4 U.S. Census. She is my great-grandmother and her name is really Emily Alinora. She went by "Nora", at least in later years. She married Drury Lee in Parker County, TX, 12 Jan 1890. Should you ever need them, I have all of her descendants recorded.
I am looking for Francis Elizabeth Russell's ancestors. I was told by an uncle who interviewed "Nora" that her father was John Russell, a Methodist Circuit preacher who lived in TN, and his wife was Judith. I have no idea if this is factual but it is all I have to go on at this point. Do you have any information (or clues) on Francis Elizabeth Russell's parents?

Mary L. Latham can be found in the same census living in Arkansas and listed as a widow as well. You have James William's spouse listed as Audella. If this is correct (I suspect it is) Mary Latham is not my father's great-grandmother as he had been told, but rather Audella is. There is a certain family likeness between our families, but I know very little about my ancestors. I was born in Coventry,Warwickshire,England. My father, Alfred Thomas Welch, was also born there, in 1910. His father, another Alfred, was born in Birmingham,Warwickshire. His father, Thomas Welch, is shown on the 1891 Birmingham census as also being born in Birmingham. I understand, from my late father, that the family originally came from County Cork, Ireland, but I have not been able to find out about any previous generations, so far.

I just found out that I am descended from Gayton through Joseph Suttle/Settle. Am trying to find my long lost family. My line of succession is Joseph Suttle's daughter Susanna who married Adam Miller of Kentucky. They moved to Jackson Co., IN where she died giving birth to Susanna Miller. Susanna Miller married my direct ancestor Allen Smith-parents of my gr. grandmother-Canis/Candas Arminta Smith. Susanna Miller then married John J. Adams of Kentuky and they moved to Warren Co., IL. Candas m. Norman Clarence Reed in Peoria, IL and they moved to the Salina/Hutchinson area of Kansas. Norman died in Barbour Co., KS and Candas married George Parkins and is buried in Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart, Oklahoma, although she died in another county in Oklahoma. My grandmother was Norman and Candas's daughter-Nellie Mae Reed who married Frederick Park. They went to the Dakotas. If you would like more information. Contact me.

Since I was born out of wedlock and the "adoption" records are not yet secured, if they officially existed... I am left in limbo. I have an ongoing relationship with my biological father, "Bud" (Jesse Leonard) HODGES' living brother, Roy HODGES and his wife, Quida MITCHELL HODGES; with my half-brother, Sam HODGES; with my sister, Lavon, which all live withing 20 miles of where I was born (Ragley, Beauregard Parish, LA - 1946).
I did not pursue searching for them, although I knew my dad, grandparents, and uncles and aunts were interested enough to keep up with my growing up years in SW Louisiana and my years as a Pastor and Preacher (Did a host of funerals and speaking in churches in Southwest LA). My biological died in 1994 before I could establish a personal relationship. In 1996, I first visited with my Uncle Roy and my brother, Sam via telephone. Sam came to Dallas that June along with his family. I had just had my first heart surgery along with debilitating strokes.
I need your help or reference to those who might be able to: 1. Search to see if there was an official adoption in Louisiana... 2. Correct my original birth certificate which was produced in Beauregard Parish by my grandfather, R N WARE, Justice of the Peace, over 2 years after my birth 9/11/1946. It lists "Van H Harrison" as my father, and mis-spelled my middle name... Collin (has it as Colon). 3. An appropriate way to include the real relationships without comment, but with the honor and respect due all. 4. Seek out my Cherokee and lineage along with my sibblings' Cherokee and Choctaw heritage: WARE-COOLEY-ALSTON ... Cherokee; HARRISON-MCMANUS-SMITH (Addie) ... Choctaw; and HARRISON-HARRISON-ANOLD-GREEN (Isabel or Isabella) ... Cherokee. I am aware that it is almost impossible to be accepted by the Cherokee and the Choctaw nations... so we will be looking at the Cherokee, multi-family heritage. This is an important undertaking. 5. Find the connection of Isabel GREEN and the SHILLING family (Matilda SHILLING, age 38 is in the Henry ARNOLD (age 24) household in the 1850 Louisiana, Livingston Parish census along with Isabel (14? years old... plus a "Nancy LOUIS", age 8. See page 363b of Genealogy.com Dwelling 438, Lines 22-25 ((Do you know if there is any relationship with Henry and Levi ARNOLD (h/o Martha Ann LANIER) from Dwelling 434?).
I have enough info to shore up some of the data, especially the children of Barney J and Mamie MCMANUS HARRISON. I have a great deal of info on my mother's siblings and much more on my grandfather and Ggrandfather WARE's families... Let me know if you are interested... I am still searching for the parents of James Madison HARRISON and have coming more letters and other documentation of He and Nancy's Louisiana experience and the THURSTON family letters and my GGgrandfather, Benjamin THURSTON's diary at the lighthouse he kept there in the Mississippi delta.
As a retiree, I am trying to devote much more energy and time to this project and am collecting photos of gravesites and will as soon as possible, journey with my wife, Connie, to Martin's (Ware's) Bluff, near Pascagoula, MS. There is still a cabin we will stay at on what was the plantation of James WARE III, father of James Collen WARE or Collie (Collin J) WARE, my Ggrandfather, who left MS for LA about 1880.

I was researching on Ancestry.com for the Settle side of my family. My birth name is Martha Settle Johnson. I realized that there were no children listed for Presley Settle. Some trees have his name spelled as Suttle which is incorrect. Anyway, he married Elizabeth Hubert and they had Jeremiah Hugh Settle. Jeremiah married Vinas Hinton and they had Presley Peter Settle. My Grandmother is Clemmie Mae Guy Williams - she is one of the children of James F. Guy and Mary Jane Azalee Chandler.

As I was reseaching my fathers family (Nelson) I again came across this site. Rufus Eugene Jeans (Uncle Buck)is a cousin to my mother Rita Jeans a daughter of Arthur Jeans and Betha Franks. She was married to Beryl Nelson the brother to Retia Nelson who married Uncle Buck. Maxine Jeans, my mother's sister also married another brother of Retia's, Edgar. Lillian Edare WARE was born, Nov 2, 1926 and her first husband was Jimmy B Edwards of Ragley, LA. He died in WWII. I did get to visit with John, Earl (William) and Robert WARE, all nephews of my grandfather, Robert N WARE and sons of William John WARE by his 1st wife, Pearl Ramsey. Earle's daughter has some more input and we will be getting together this spring.
When gg Collie Ware was murdered he was living with Henry and Rincey Ware PHILLIPS. Earle and I talked about the details. Aunt Rincey's boy just went into "shell shock" and there were too many knives and guns available. Earl came down from OK to take the boy to jail in DeRidder. The bottom line was that gg Collie killed a man in his youth via a gun and was himself war shot and knifed at an old age of 88. He had tried to make things right and died many years after dealing with the matter.
Keep up the good work... We got to meet with my grandfather's neice in Center, TX. Effie Mae, daughter of William John WARE by 2nd wife, Pearl... celebrated her 87th birthday in Oct.

I am looking for any Beech, particularly Eugene Beech (my paternal grandfather). I was told that I was named after a relative on my father's side of the family whose name was Claudia Vernetia Lee. I have found Claudia Vernitia Spence who married a Lee. The relationship of this person is unknown. I am also looking for any relationship between the Lee family, Mitchell family, Davis family and perhaps the Roberts or Morgans (I have an uncle named Luther Morgan Beech and for some reason, I think he was named after someone with the last name Morgan). There are Venecia Mitchell and Venetia Roberts (different spelling than mine). Fact is, I just don't know what I am looking for. Beech's are so rare, particularly in Hancock County Mississippi. I think my paternal grandmother's name was Esther Estelle Lee but I am not certain. Lee's and Davis's are definitely part of my family tree.

Hello. My great-grandmother is Mary Ann "Mollie" Burson (married to John Drury Estes). Her father is William Henry Burson, a son of Jonathan Dennis Burson. Jonathan Dennis is a Civil War veteran, serving in Alabama in one of the (44th AL Infantry--if I remember right--off of the top of my head)same units as one of my Kersh ancestor's kinfolks. Jonathan Dennis was wounded in the war. My G-Grandparents, Mollie and John Drury, are buried in Rockwood Cemetery, Rockwood, Coleman County, Texas. Mollie died the year I was born, and John Drury died about 4-5 years later. Both lived about 100+ years. I have quite a bit of info. available on Mollie's descendants if you want it.
