Earlier today I purchased at a Fremont (Niles District), CA antiques store an undated studio portrait (circa 1910-20) of a young man, taken by Walt Dickson, 238 Queen St. East, Toronto, Canada, identified on the back (evidently by Leo Giuffre in 1966):

"Uncle Joe
Giuffre
from Toronto
Canada"

Earlier today I purchased at a Fremont (Niles District), CA antiques dealer a real photo postcard produced in Italy by Michele Salvo, Termini Imerese. The postcard is undated but I estimate that the photo was taken around 1900-10. It depicts a young woman wearing an ankle-length dress. The postcard, not postally used (no stamp or postmark), is addressed to:

Mr Santo Giuffre
California

There is a short message in Italian (not translated) written by the sender, a woman named Angelina.

I found two individuals with the name Santo Giuffre residing in California in the first half of the 20th century:

1. Santo Giuffre, b. abt 1869 in Italy, immigrated 1899, married to Maria (maiden name unknown), resided San Francisco in 1910, with 3 sons and 3 daughters, employed as a cabinetmaker.

2. Santo Frank Giuffre, b. 18 Nov 1888 in Palermo, Italy, son of Joseph and Mary Giuffre, immigrated 1900, married to Annie (maiden name unknown), resided in Oakland from at least 1910 to 1942, with 1 daughter and 1 step-daughter (surname Fregulia), employed as a grocery salesman (1910), cabinetmaker (1930-40), and dry dock worker (1942).

I recently purchased at a Fremont (Niles District), CA antiques dealer a real photo postcard, marked "Carte Postale Paget," of a middle-aged woman, identified on the back: "Marie La Cavera Guiffre wife of Leonardo Guiffre Frank Guiffre's mother." I found a Frank Guiffre, born about 1885 in Italy, listed in the 1920 Census data for Oakland, Alameda Co., CA. His wife Rosie (maiden name unknown), was born about 1891 in Italy. They immigrated in 1914 and had two sons: Leo, born 1911, and August, born 1913. The family resided at 3121 Adeline Street. Frank was employed as a ship yard driller. Is this family related to the subject in this photo and the photo of Titi Guiffre D'andrea? Contact me if you are interested in viewing and/or acquiring this photo.

Even if I don't meet everyone in the Guiffre family. I am a Guiffre and I love the family trees for when I do meet people. I am Michael Guiffre Fannon and recently met Donna. I love extended family history even though I can't post that many names on-line. I'd love to go to Ellis Island one day and see if my Great-Great Grandfather's name was changed by accident or if he chose to.
