Hello Jim and Gaylene,
My name is Steve Smith and my wife came upon your site by searching for George Stutler. George Stutler was my father and after his death my mother remarried and my name was changed at that time. I'm curious as where the information came from for the Stutler family. Hiram was my grandfather. If possible I would like to work with the person who gave you the information because I have some to share. My sister Yvonne would be very interested in this site.
Thank you in advance for any information you can share with me.

The time/place give added depth to my search for more details of my 3rd great grandfather, Robert Thornton who was the first settler of the land now known as Parkersburg, WV in 1773. Some clues showed he was active in the Redstone Old Fort area, before he made his tomahawk claim to the land at confluence of the Ohio & Little Kanawha. - Thanks for your work.

I recently decided to go through my Banister notes and as usual ended up back on the internet. What a fantastic website you have created. My ggg grandfather was John Banister, christened in Derby in 1803, so I believe that there is a distant connection with your Banister's in PA. I found it especially interesting that Joseph Banister (ch. 1801) was married at Manchester Cathedral because that is where I believe my John married in 1828.
John and his wife Jane had my gg grandfather, also called John, christened at South Collingham in 1835. Other than that I haven't yet been able to trace them until the 1881 census when they are found in Lancashire where the elder John's occupation was given as Patten Maker.
How lucky you are to have all the photo's that you have put on the site!

I want to thank you, so much, for the work that you have done on the translation of
Samuel P. Bates, History of Erie County, Pennsylvania. The bio on Alexander McKinley was my first break on the clues to my Boyd part of the family. My mother knew her grandmother (father's mother) was Sarah Melinda Boyd and she knew her grandfather was Alexander McKinley, but didn't know any further back than that. She knew her grandmother, personally, but her grandfather died before she was born, Mar 22, 1913. Together with info I found in that bio, and later elsewhere, I have been able to track the family back to William and Sarah (Johnson) Boyd. Because of some old letters, with names in them regarding the Boyd family, I have been able to track down Boyd relatives, still living, in Erie County, and we keep in contact now. I have learned info on a couple more generations on the McKinley side, too. I live on the west coast, in San Diego County, but have a Boyd relative back there who is very interested in the family history, so he has been a great "pair of legs" for me. I understand we have a "family" connection, too, as both of John Vincent's wives were "Boyd's", daughter and granddaughter of William and Sarah.
My husband and I met, during highschool, in Tucson, Arizona. I later learned that his father had been born in Waterford and he lived there as a boy. We own 6 acres that was part of a farm that his father owned in Waterford. His father was Sidney Henry Stafford, his father was Edwin Zelotus, Edwin's father was Zelotus and the father of Zelotus was Jesse Stafford. All are buried in Waterford and Jesse in McKean. My mother's mother also is from Erie County. Surnames on her side are Eaton, Cutter, Martin and Moore.
Again, thank you for your work.

What a wonderful website! I was surprised to find my Lemmon relations. My gr gr gr grandfather was John Lemmon, brother to your William Lemmon who married Nancy Unknown. My mother did research on the Lemons in Greene & Washington County & I found many familiar names on this site. I have some additional information but we have been unable to confirm who their parents were. If anyone has any information on the Lemmons/Lemons, I'd love to hear from you! Glad I found this site.

I have more information on some of the William Colwell line than is presented here, but you have given me a little new information on his brother, Alexander's line. I am interested in any information that will lead to the parents of Alexander and William. You listed their father as William. Where does this come from?

Interesting reading. Of note, in chapter six, the French Church of Saint Esprit is no longer on W 22nd Street, but on East 58th St between Park and Madison Aves. I pass by it often but it is easily missed.

What a pleasant surprise to find Boyd Vincent's book "Our Family of Vincents". I borrowed from my brother the copy my grandparents passed on, with the intention of copying to disk and sending to all my children and nephews. I was working on the Appendix when my son discovered your site. Boyd Vincent was my great grandfather's cousin. I have often wondered how many copies of the book were still in existence.
Our line goes back to Cornelius (born Apr 15, 1737); Bethuel (born June 3, 1762); John (born Apr 20, 1798) to my great grandfather Dr. Frank Vincent (born 1839)

Gaylene,
We spoke a good bit ago about the McCrackens and maybe the Lohrs. You gave me a run down on your family history and I told you my mother-in-law Beulah (nee McCracken/Lohr) Thompson had said she thought she had heard of you before. Anyway, I was looking over your homepages site and I see you have a James Elden Wittstruck and kids listed. It so happens that I am a Wittstruck and have been trying to figure out if James Elden fits in or not. You wouldn't happen to know who James' parents were would you? or anyone I can contact?
My dad was Douglass Frank Wittstruck, my grandpa was Julius Franklin Wittstruck, my ggrandpa was Moses Henry Wittstruck and his father was Carl (Charles) Marten Wittstruck. I could go on and on... If you can help with this I would appreciate this! Thanks Gaylene!

Hello Whomever,
I would like to make a correction to your listings. My mother is LaVerra Kennedy Parshall. Her father's name is listed as Patrick Edward Kennedy, and that is incorrect. My Grandfather's name was David Edward Kennedy. He was the child of Patrick Wesley Kennedy and Emily Rosetta Freeland Kennedy. He was born January 19, 1907 and passed away February 6, 1976.
Thank-you,

I enjoyed looking through your website. I was brought here while doing a search on my Stanley and related families from Athens Co., OH. From the looks of things, we are probably related in some way, although I haven't found a direct connection yet. Many of my ancestors settled in Athens Co., OH after leaving Washington Co., PA. I'd love to read the book about "Dunmore's War" (pardon me if I can't remember the exact title at the moment). I'm sure it would explain my ancestors' reasons for leaving PA and VA and moving to OH. Thanks for the informative site.

Hi, I went through about everything. I read as much of the Boyd Vincent story as I could. I'll be back. This is really great. I can only hope that mine will come out half as good. I couldn't find any tie in. I thought I had it with William H. Vincent and possibly Jean (John) Vincent but now I'm not sure. I am in the line of William H. Vincent and Hannah Hanks. (I think) I haven't stopped. It has become a passion with me now.
Wonderful presentation.

I was checking pages on rootsweb to see if I could find any connections to the sur names in my family files. I noticed you had Kron's in your line, also Acosta's. Both of those names are in my family tree. My Kron's came from Germany in the 1800's and settled from what I can find, in the New Orleans, Louisiana area. If you feel there may be a connection please e-mail me at grumpysmom@yahoo.com and I would be glad to exchange notes.

Enjoyed all the work you and your dad did. The names Higginbotham, Rogers, Martin, Brown, and Vincent all caught my eye. I am working on my Kinney/King/brown/Lyncy/Lymon family lines and my Lasiter/Rogers/Higginbotham/Martin lines. The Kinney and Rogers families started in PN and NY. This summmer my husband, our son Forrest and I took a trip to Niagra, Canada. we spent some time in Erie, PA and by Lakes Erie and Ontario. When I found a possible PA connection to the "lost" parents of my gr gr grandfather Thomas Kinne(y)through James Kinney b abt 1824 and Harriet (Daly) Kinney of NY, I remembered how close NY & PA were in the Erie area. When I found you page it have spent a lot of time pouring over your files. Thank you so much for having the information available for us.
