I'm looking for the father and mother of my ggggrandfather, John Hamilton, born 1790 in Berwick, Maine. Records show that he moved to Conway, NH when he was 14 and lived there until he returned to Berwick to enlist in the army for the Revolutionary War. He was assigned to the unit in Detroit MI and after the war he settled in the Detroit area. He was a successful merchant and moved to Flint, MI where he is now buried. I was wondering if there might be a link to your Hamilton lineage. Thank you for any information that you can provide.

My father's mother's father was W.A. Stegall. He is listed in the 1880 census in McMinn County, TN which indicated that he was born in Alabama. I have no other information on him except that he and his wife, Mary Jane McCuistion, had six children. Both parents died when my grandmother (one of their daughters) was only 2 years old. I've located the McCuistions (a lot of them!) but nothing on Stegalls yet!

My Paternal Grandmother's parernal surname was Huggard. My Great Grandfather settled in Pine Bluff Arkansas where he owned a saloon. I was always told (growing up) that we had a knight in the family known as Sir John Huggard. (My Grand Mother's maternal name was Godfrey, so somehow I had always assumed that both sides were Irish. I have always been drawn to all things Scottish, and was delighted when an older cousin (doing research on several branches of the family) told me that Huggard was indeed Scottish and had come over from Scotland in the 1800's. Hooray! I'll be watching this website avidly, and thinks for all the work you have put into this meaningful task. PS I lost a first cousin to cancer last week that carried the given name John Huggard (Hash). He would have been delighted to have known about this website before he got sick. (By the way, I understand that the Huggard's that remained in Pine Bluff are buried in (I presume) the Catholic Cemetery there. My Grandmother married an Opel (German) and lived out her life in Sherman, Texas. I live in the country near the small towns of Point and Emory).

My grandfather visited Scotland and has mentioned having relatives there. My grandmother's roots were traced back to Daughters of the American Revolution and also Nipmuc Indian heritage. They are of Tingley United origin. I am really interested in my Gpa's side also. I have sent this link to my uncles (who I am in close contact with) and they will contact my Grandfather. Maybe they can add more to your site. I traced the name Russell in England and up with Lady DI which was pretty far fetched as I cannot substantiate that they are OUR Russells.
