Her Great-great Grandfather helped organize Chapel Union Church, and her Mother and Father are buried there.

I am the ggg-great granddaughter of Nicholas and Mary Biggerstaff Phelps. I have been trying to research our line of Phelps for sometime. My father is 82 and alot of what he tells me is the same stories that have been passed along for many years. Now I understand that it was incorrect in a way. If our William is the 1st (married to Sarah from 1755-1770), then his parents are John (dies 1747 in VA) and Margaret and he should not be listed as William II. Maybe this is where we get it all confused or am I confused? I don't believe that I am. Do you know if anyone has researched John and Margaret Phelps on back? The information you have provided has been very helpful, maybe someday we can get this all figured out. Thank you!!!

I am not a 100 percent sure, but I think maybe your Malinda C. Phelps is the same one in my husband's family only she was married to a William Thomas Garner of Horse Mill,Butler, KY.You have yours married to a Jim Garner.
In the 1900 census records of Butler County,Malinda and William had a Sarah F. Hawks age 70, listed as mother-in-law and also there were those by the name of House living with them.My husband's grandmother the oldest daughter of William & Malinda Phelps,Garner was 15 years old.She married Ollis E. Vandver of Indiana.They moved to Texas around 1920. Could this be the same Malinda?

This is a great sight. My Grandfather was Francis Marion Phelps (b:1861). You have his last wife listed as PB Embry: This was my Grandmother. Her first husband was an Embry but her maiden name was Parrabanion Dockery (she was the daughter of D Mason Dockery and Paradine Embry). They had five more children together before Grandpa died in Muhlenberg County in 1934. They were Naomi, Leona, Duel, Pansy and my father, Pyrtle. Pansy and my father were born in Muhlenberg County and the older three were born in Butler County. Grandma (Parrabanion) died in Linton, IN in 1973. My maternal grandmother was Josephine Herman. She was born in July 188? in Poland/Russia. She married Bronislaw Janeczko also from Poland/Russia. Bronislaw came to the US in 1903 aboard the Graf Waldersee out of Hamburg, Germany. I am not sure if Josephine was with him at the time. They settled in Sag Harbor, NY and had their first child John in 1906. They had 4 more children, Anna in 1908, Joseph in 1914, Josephine in 1919, and Mary in 1923. Josephine died in 1961 and Bronislaw (Bruno) died in 1963. Any information that might pertain would be appreciated. I have an old photo that is possibly Josephine Herman's mother in Poland/Russia if anyone thinks that may be helpful to connect family lines. Thank you.

I have just started researching the family of Solomon Thompson Carroll born 1862 in Butler County and Martha Cole(s) Carroll from White County, Illinois. Solomon was the son of Wiley J. and Minerva Carroll from Butler County. Solomon married Maggie Bell Pate after his first wife died. There were three sons from the first marriage and only Oscar Carroll seems to be recorded anywhere. I can find no record of my childrens' grandfather Marion Earl Carroll born around 1893 in Short Hill. I also have heard the town of Quality mentioned. I am reasonably sure there are still kin in or around Butler County. I think Solomon also had a brother, possibly a twin, Alford or Alfred M. Carroll who also married in Butler County in 1884. There were also four other children--Sallie, Mary,Minerva and Thomas Carroll. I would love to hear from anyone having any information on this family. I believe most of this branch of the Carroll family are buried at Bethel Cemetery.

My ggrandfather's I can only take back to his father Stephen Phelps and his wife Margret, maiden name unknown. My ggrandfather was Anderson Phelps. Nancy Magnolia "Maggie" Phelps was my ggrandmother. She was born 1872 in Butler County and she married Joe (not John) Floyd b. 1869 also of Butler County. Your website shows the year of Maggie's death as 1941 in Evansville, IN. She actually died on March 26, 1944 and is buried in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, KY. I have a certified copy of her death certificate that I would be happy to share with you.
I also found John W. Floyd and Nancy Jane Phelps Floyd in your database. These were the parents of Maggie's husband, Joe Floyd.
I have not been able to confirm that Nancy M. Phelps, dau. of Woodford & Julia Phelps, is actually Nancy Magnolia Phelps until I found your web page. What documentation did you come across to prove this? I am desperate to add this proof to my records. Also, I have been unable to find the marriage record for Nancy M. & Joe Floyd. Incidentally, I have a copy of Joe's death certificate too. My grandmother always referred to her parents as "Joe & Maggie" so, I didn't realize what Maggie's given name even was until I got her death certificate.
