Dear Kay,
Would like to "link up" and see if we can assemble more of these Jolly families - I have two separate branches from brothers in 1713, my grandmother being a Jolly from Portland. I have checked your Jolly families and can't seem to link these in yet but the names Tregonning, Vivian, Rowe, are familiar. Hope to hear from you.

Hello, Kay.
My husband's g-g-g-grandparents were Henry John Clark and a Frances Caroline Dunstan (known as Fannie).
Fannie is purported to have been born in Gippsland in 1862.
I am curious to see if she is the same Fannie you have listed as Fanny Dunstan.

There is a record in NZ that shows Fannie Dunstan had an illegitimate child in 1884, named William Rogers Dunstan. No father was listed. This would certainly tie in with your list showing that Fannie's mother Maria Ann Jones married first a Dunstan, and then a Rogers before 1884.

I would be interested in finding out from what records you have gleaned your early info on the Jones and Dunstans, particularly in Australia. I live in NZ and find researching Aussie records online difficult! (NZ isn't much better).
If indeed this is a match, I will be able to fill you in with Fanny's descendants.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Kimberly Jones

Ejoyed your site. I am a Nankivell "cousin" from the USA. My lineage is thru your G-G-grandfathers oldest brother, Elias. His daughter Elizabeth (b. 1838 in Horndon, Tavistock, England) married a miner named Roger Doidge. They are my G-G-G grandparents (I was born in '67) who came to the US to escape mining. In 1873 they homesteaded and began farming on 80 acres of land 7 miles North of Solomon, Kansas, USA.

Take care - Cousin Ty

Hi there,
My girlfriend told me that she'd found a picture of another Musicka on the web, it was quite strange to see. Harry looks quite a lot like my father, Peter, when he was younger and myself. I now live in Brighton, England, but I was born in Middlesbrough, where my family still live. I don't have much time now but I can tell you that my great grandfather was brought up in London. My grandfather, Oswald, is 88 years old and doing quite well despite some health problems. My dad, Peter turned 60 this year. Anyway, I think there is a good chance that there is some connection. I'll ask my family for more information when I see them next. Take care,
Tom Musicka

My name is Penny and I'm currently helping a friend in trying to locate a Mr. Brian ? Wilson who would be approximatley 71 years of age ( Born 1932 or '33 ish). This particular gentleman was apparently a builder or builders labourer in his youth and spent some time in New Zealand in the early 1960's (approximately Dec 1961). Prior to that time he was apparently living in Adelaide. The photo we have looks like he is reasonably fit and might have sandy hair but not that certain.

I do appreciate that Adelaide is now a big city but I'm happy to give fate a go on this occassion. It has worked for me when I tracked down my family history in Sydney a couple of years ago, Ferdinand Meurant, Australia's first jeweller.

There are no secrets, money ganmes or mysteries about our enquiry, we are simply trying to complete and research our family tree.

In anticipation, I thank you for your time and consideration on this matter. Hope we find the needle in the haystack, complete the picture and family tree.

Kind regards

Penny

Hi Kay, Just stumbles on your webpages. Do you know of the following website - http://www.spatial-literacy.org/UCLnames/Surnames.aspx - try entering 'Jolly' !
My 'Jolly' family originate in Chorley Lancashire which comes up as the postal town with the highest concentration of Jollys. My father remembers visiting his paternal grandmother thereas, a little boy. She was the daughter in law of a Thomas Jolly who was born in 1809! His memory goes way back - been a great help with my tree. He can remember virtually all the family born after the mid 1840's.

I have over 2000 Jolly (and variants) listed for the Chorley and 10 mile radius going back to the 1400's - mostly in family trees which I occassionally manage to link together. If you ever find a link back to Lancashire - let me know.

I've also researched the families who lived on a small island off the coast of North Wales - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/familyhistory/pages/bardsey.shtml and foir more on the island :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/bardsey/ BBC made a radio programme on my Bardsey researches just over a year ago!
Cofion gorau/best regards

Ian Jolly

A neighbour looked up my grandparents' names (my father's parents) on a genaeology disk for us. He traced us back to a miner named William Tonkin (born 4/11/1827 died 7/6/1895) who married Charlotte Trezise/Tresize (1828 - 1910). So it appears we're related - although I'm suspicious because there's a break in the link between William Tonkin (born 1856) with his wife Elizabeth Shepherd (1860)... their son really was my grandfather but he's not included in their family of 5 children that appears on the internet. Very off-putting for a first-timer. I don't suppose you have a John Richard Tonkin born in 1900 in Boulder W.A., do you? (He married Bernice Marguerite Forsyth who was born in British India in 1901).
All that said - it's been a real pleasure to see so much about your (our) family. It inspires thoughts of exciting digging and discoveries about far away places and immigrant ships. Oooh.
Kind Regards from Susan Ward.

How did you find my page? searching for PANNELL genealogy
Comments:
I'm researching the genealogy of Robert Pannell who came to South Africa with his family in the 1840's - he had previously been in South Africa when he was unmarried - about 1817 but returned to England where he met and married Alicia Hunt in Ireland. I see that you have a Jane Pannell on your webpage - if you give me some more details, e.g. dates I can check on my database and see if I can help. I'm typing this during my lunch break at work so do not have my files with me. Off hand, I don't recall the name but she may be on my database, or I can try and find out for you.

Comments:
I love the way you have set out your family tree and I wish to do so with mine as well. I have not yet contributed my side of the TONKIN family as I have very little information on William Henry TONKIN who was my great grandfather. He was the son of Amilia TONKIN from the area of St. Agnus and was illigitimate. So far no trace of his father can be found and I am convinced he is my gt grandfather. I would love to trace his side. Can I give you more detail in another email?
Can you help me with my family website to be set out like yours?
My website that I started is http://freepages.cultures.rootsweb.com/~kernow/gc2.htm. Please look at it - it is not by far complete.

i used to write to (i think) Penny Ecclestone. This was back in the 1960's. I am thinking of visiting perth next year. my mother who is none in her 80's had an aunt and uncle, who left englenad before the 1st world war. i think that the ecclestone's were related in some way. The family name is mills. My grandfather was David Mills.Unfortunatley my mother is away at the moment and so i am not able to ask her the names of my grandfathers brother and sister. The family can from the East End of london. I think there were about 7 or 8 siblings. I think the family originally came from the north and a family name was Rowbottom (not a name easily forgotten). If someone could possible help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Some research that my brother(steve) has done leads towards the name TIPPETT and the era of around 1400. As the story goes, John Tippett did some good deed or other for a noble-man(possibly royalty) and was given land in Cornwall. This place was called "The valley of the Horse", or Nance-Kivell, so john changed his name to Nance-Kivell and the rest follows on from there. Another of our ancestors set up residence in the MALDON area of Victoria, Australia. My branch is in the Goulburn Valley region of Northern Victoria, and I have a wife(Sue) and 2 sons(Brandon and Ben)

Nice chatting with you,
