They had 5 children: Ida Vera, Daniel Farrell(?), John, Jr. (later "Bartos"), Virginia Lee(my mother) and Jack Jennings. John and Elmira were divorced sometime around 1935, and he was later remarried to Patricia Gandee and had 4 more daughters between 1946 and 1953: Nora, Alice, Patty and Bonnie. It's a diverse family.

Kinch's father and Uncle Isham West settled in Dade County, MO where his Uncle is buried.

Comments:	We have done quite a bit of research on the West family going back to an older Jeptha West that came to Pulaski County, MO in 1817 and settled near Waynesville, MO. His son reportedly was James West and my Great Grandpa was James'son--William Jeptha West. We have recently found evidence that the older Jeptha West married a full-blooded Cheroee Indian named Millie Sewachee Gentry probably right around the turn of the century. Would be interested in any additional info that you might have on this line.

Comments:	Just returned from a Powell reunion in Alma Ark. this past week. We all are descendants of Millard and Dollie Whitlock Powell. We all stayed at the Comfort Inn in Alma, Ark. Stopped in old town Alma to make copies of the Allen Powell story, when I stumbled upon the Crawford County Genealogical Society, met a gentlemen Mr. Thomas O. Wonderly who is researching founding families. I believe I was guided there that day, only open Tues. and Thurs. from 9-3, I was there Thurs. around 12 noon. I am interested in old pictures of my family and acquired some new ones from Verna Epple's daughter Melba Louise. Just remembered I sent you a picture years ago, can't remember which one. Comments:	My Great Grandmother, Emily Jane Mccullough came from Mississippi. Her father (.... McCullough) died and her mother remarried a James Wilson Martin of Tishomingo MS, and then the mother died. I never knew the mother's name. The Martins relocated to Texas and I have the family tree after, and the family tree of the Martins. However, I am super curious about Emily jane's father. I was told he was an educated man, possibly a lesser son who emigrated to America, and that he possibly was a school teacher. Do you know of any McCulloughs that would fit that bill? Emily Jane was born June 29, 1862. We have a lot of family stories about her, just don't know anything about her before the Martins. Thanks, Rebecca Jones

Comments:	The 1860 US Census shows Perryman and Frances Moore McCullough in Yell County, Arkansas, with their children. Perryman died there in 1863 and Frances apparently returned to Mississippi, as she is buried there in the Midway Cemetery in Calhoun Co. My husband is descended from Perryman and Frances' daughter, Bernetta, who married William ELLISON in Chickasaw Co. Ms., and they came to Texas in 1871. She is buried in the Baptist Cemetery in Bazette, Navarro Co., Tx. She is the "Nettie" to whom the letter from her brother "J.J." is written. He died in the Confederate Home in Austin, Texas.

Comments:	My Grandfather was John Allen Bailey, son of Louise West. Louise is somehow related to Billy West and Kinch. My mother, Virginia, said that her father told stories of how he was with Billy West when he was killed. I don't know if he was an uncle or a cousin. Unfortunately, I did not know my grandfather well and have very little knowledge of our family history...but would love to know more. My grandfather died in 1967 and is buried in Gallup, N.M.

During the Civil War one of Sampson's sons and my HY were detailed to the SC State Works Armory in Greenville SC. My mom is 86 and I have heard tells of a famous Powell rife all my life, still trying to put the folklore with the proof. I do know there is a Powell-Simpson connection to the Morse Carbine and have copies of pay records as proof.

Comments:	I am interested in your mention of the death of Kinch's son William W.West. A story passed down our family is right before my great grandmother, Louisa's daughter, and my gr grandfather were married, one of her relatives rode up on a horse and wanted to drink from the well. Before he could leave a possee came up and shot him. This was prior to 17th Oct 1896 in what is now Sequoyah Co., Oklahoma around Gore or Vian (it was actually called Campbell back then). Kinch died in 96 but he died of natural causes. Could this have been his son? I don't have birth or death dates of his children.

Comments:	Where did these McCulloughs orgionate. My McCulloughs came from Ireland before 1790. They was three brothers came from Ireland John, James and William McCullough and John got a land grant in Iva, Pendleton District South Carolina in 1790 where some of my McCulloughs still live. My problem is I don't know where James children went after his death in 1819. I know two of Williams children went to Alabama. and this has been confirmed by family tree and DNA test. Has any of your McCulloughs did a DNA. William also died in 1819. Both James and Williams children was anywhere from 10 to 20 years old and I believe most left the area. I think both William and James died sudden and at the same time. John lived until 1833 in Iva. I did my DNA with Relative Genetics which is part of Ancestry.com now. Do a DNA we may become kin. Comments:	I have some old letters written to my gr. gr. grandmother, Mrs. Mary Ann Minerva West Cantrell, by Mrs. Celia Nail from Collinsville, OK and Josephine Jones from Miami, OK, dated 1 Sep 1919 & 20 Dec 1921. Will share them with anyone who might be interested! I also have other letters from part of the West family who stayed in Cole Co., Moniteau Co. & Howell Co., MO. According to the information in the letters they were two brothers of William Y. & Isham West--Benjamin B. & John W. West! In the 4 Jan 1890 letter from John W. West of Russellville, Cole Co., MO, he writes: "for William Y. West was my Brother that was killed in Dade County By the home gards or rather murders..." "I have just recievd a Letter from your Coson Mary West, Brother Benjamin B. Wests Daughter. Thay live at Siloam Springs, Howell County, Mo. Your uncle is verry pore helth..." Before I was given these letters to me by my aunt a few weeks ago, I knew nothing about the two brothers of William Y. & Isham West. I'm hoping to do some research in those counties in MO after I get moved to my new house. Oh yes, by the way, Isham West's wife's maiden name is "Perry" so perhaps Alzada & Nancy Willey Perry West were sisters and daughters of Kinchen & Margaret Sanders Perry! Would like to learn more about the families who lived in Oklahoma.

My grandmother Mildred Margaret Gable married Steve/Stephen Alexander Race, Sr. I think they were separated when she died because she and her three children; including my father, Steve Alexander Race, Jr., lived with her mother. I was told that she died in a charity hospital in Oklahoma. She was in for TB and was given 'Lysol' by a student nurse instead of her medicine. Can anyone confirm this? Comments:	I'm a descendant of the Oregon Gaunts/West families. It is interesting to note that Hardin's brother, Thomas, was a well known horse thief and abandoned the family around 1860. Could not locate him on the 1860 Oregon census, but I found him again in 1888 in the Cherokee Nation giving affadavits for the West family on your site!

Comments:	I'm a descendant of the Oregon Gaunts/West families. It is interesting to note that Hardin's brother, Thomas, was a well known horse thief and abandoned the family around 1860. Could not locate him on the 1860 Oregon census, but I found him again in 1888 in the Cherokee Nation giving affadavits for the West family on your site!

Comments:	I have for a number of years researched a skirmish on Cow Creek, Crawford Co., KS, which occurred 22 Oct. 1864. The Confederate guerillas surprised and routed a Union wagon train. The Confederates were under command of Maj. Andrew Jackson Piercy, MO Cav. 1st Battalion, Indian Brigade. One of the wagon masters, Robert M. Peck, was captured and later released. In 1904, Peck wrote an account of this incident in a national veterans paper. In it, he named several of his captors, including Kinch West, whom he said later became a desperado in Indian Territory and Arkansas. Hope this is helpful.

Comments:	What a treasure. We know very little about the Gartons, but this will add a lot to our information. James Baxter Garton came to Norton County Kansas in 1879 in a covered wagon. They lived in a sod building meant to be a chicken house the first winter. A child was born there. John Bunyan Garton ended his life in Kansas. He is buried in the Gettis Cemetery in Norton County as is James Baxter and his wife Frances Lynch.

Comments:	Good Morning. I'm looking for information on John Vancil who married Lydia Donner. I have been unable to find a marriage record for them, but they would have been in Sangamon County, Illinois when they married. From court records I know they were in Henderson County, Il. in 1849, when Lydia's fathers estate was settled. In the book A New Colonial Family History by Evelyn Lowdermilk Ball she states that Lydia was buried in Idaho in the family plot of Rose Anna Vancil (her daughter) John took ill while visiting a daughter in St. Louis and is suppose to be buried there at Bellefontaine Cemetery. He was killed during the Civil War in the Battle of Pilot Knob, but his wife and children remained in Dade County. Isaiah's father was Joshua West and his father was Thomas V. West. My father born In Vian, Ok. in 1907. what another relative and I have been trying to do is find out about the mystery of My Grandfather William J. and his siblings really being Stubblefields and being just raised by William A. Bailey!!!! I just read the dawes and saw Louisa married to a Hughes in 1896. we knew of this but thought it was later..after Bailey.. Anyhow.. you have any in-put into this tangled web???? Comments:	Sorry to be a pest, but remember, Judge Zachariah Garton was the son of Uriah Ezra Garton who drowned in the Ohio River in 1801. He had been married once, lost his wife and gave up two children to his wife's family, a boy and a girl, they lost the Garton name. Married 2nd to Sarah Cuddon Jones and had Zachariah Garton. We are related to the Viginia and New Jersey branches but not descended from them. We come from a 3rd line. Our ancestor came into the county quietly not leaving any trail-hiding from his relatives. He moved inland quickly and the family stayed away from all other family members for several generations. My father said we would probably never find them because they hid so well. If this is the right on and everything point to it, Thomas married Nancy Ann Johnson and they moved to Alabama then to Mississippi. He had one of the larges plantations in Oktibbheha County until the Civil War. I have information from Thomas and Nancy Davis down. Their daughter was Missaniah who married Dr. Thomas Sumpter Weston from Fairfield dist. S.C. He was a surgeon for the 15th Mississippi regiment, Oktibbheha Plow Boys. Comments:	My mother was a Eulalah Winona Jones b. 1910 in the Miami area of Oklahoma. Her father, I was always led to believe, was an Isham West Jones b. 1885 in Indian Territory. His fathers name was John N. Jones and mother was a Josephine West. When I checked out Ishams' SS# it states his name to be Isham William Jones (same birth date). He married a Mary A. Ingram (Ark) they had two daughters my mother and a younger sister named Wava J. Sometime prior to 1940 I believe they all moved out to the Los Angeles area of California. I have never been able to find anything on my Isham until your site, thou you don't have him mentioned, unless he is the William J Jones - the youngest of Clarinda and Johns children. I am almost sure we are part of your West Clan - I have a brother named Charles Isham and twin brothers named Lorenzo James and Victor (thou we always called him David) I have two sisters and two half sisters but don't see repetition of those names I was named after my grandmother Mary .
