Anna, Thank you for the opportunity to see the comments from other guests. I'm just getting started on the Rankin side of the family and trying to gather enough information to direct me to some family sites in Scotland, when I visit there the first week of September,2006. My great grandfather's name is William, DOB 27 Feb 1835 in Tennessee, his mother and father both born in Kentucky. Can't find record of his parents names. Anyone reading this comment and has any information regarding William's parents, please contact me via email, but please indicate in the subject line that it is related to geneological research. Anna, enjoyed reading your memories of Saltcoats, my grandfather had a shop in Raise Street and you first pal was my cousin Dorothy Giovannetti (although she is about 22 years older than me). Last time I was in Saltcoats (2002)to watch my two oldest boys play in the World Pipeband Championsips in Glasgow Dorothy was still alive and kickin'.

I am trying to find info on my great grandparents Samuel Hugh Rankin & Ellen Hanrahan and Ross Glenn Dickinson & Ella Gibbs. They were married around the 1885 area. Can you be of any help? My grandmother was Wellington & Jeannette Rankin's 1st cousin but I can't find the connection.
