Hello Anna. As a new recruit in 1973, I had the pleasure of working with your dad in the band at McChord for a few months before he retired. Though now a retired trumpet player, I thought of him today while trying to figure out how to merely hold a newly-acquired guitar. "Surely Ted Short could provide some creative, unforgetable balm to ease the learning process," I thought. I found your memorial here through Google, and wanted to share with you my belated sympathy for your dad's passing, and my deepest admiration of a wonderful and gentle man.

Love your cats. Perhaps we are related. I used to raise/breed Persians, blues, creams and blue-creams, and had a red female at one point. That was ten years ago in TX when I lived and taught there. Now, I am retired back in Ohio where the kids and grandkids are located, but I go south for the winter! However, I MISS my cats and cannot have one and travel so I just have to go on with an empty heart! I long to hear that gentle purr in my ear. Persians are so gentile in personality. Marge
