I'm looking for a connection between the Sherman family on your site and My great, great grandfather Henry Sherman of Overton, Pa- Sullivan County.

My grandfather James came from England. I undersatnd he had a brother who went on to Australia. My grandmother and James were married, but later divorced. He worked in a woolen mill in Barre, Mass. This was in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They had two children William and my mother Ethel, and one that died -Violet (I believe). It was my understanding that James went to Mass - Lowell or somewhere in that area to work in the mill. My Mother tried to find him, but no luck. Neither have I. Do you have any clues?

I would be happy to share what I have on Lawrence's son John and feel free to add to your website. By the way you have John dying in Indiana and he really died in Hamilton Co. Iowa. John's sister Catherine had a daughter Sarah who married William Hook and John's daughter Sarah married William's brother Isaac Hook. John had several children, but I didn't know of John William (who you have listed). Just wondering if you had any further info on him. By the census records he had alot of children and some I haven't been able to locate names for. Would love to corrospond with you and please feel free to include any info I have on your website. Also, wanted to tell you something. My father, a dentist, had a patient named ELEANOR MUSSELMAN. No idea whether it is a relative of yours & I don't know whether this ELEANOR was a spinster or a widow. When she died (circa 1971,72), she left him alot of her belongings. I was about 9 at the time. I recall that there were hundreds of records. The one thing that he told me that she had asked that I have is a set of bronze bookends in the image of 'The Thinker'. I still have them. I really don't remember her anymore except very vaguely. She lived in Baltimore. What I remember was that she wore a cape & inside of it, she fastened various amounts of money on the lining. Whenever she had to pay something or someone, she would reach inside and grab a bill. What she picked was what you got. If (her) cab fare came to $ 4.85 and she pulled out a 50. dollar bill, well the cab driver got a hell of a tip. On the other hand, if her dental bill came to $ 42.00 and she pulled out a 20. , then that had to suffice til the next time. My dad said that it never bothered him because it always eventually evened out. Any chance that this ELEANOR is one of the Musselmans mentioned ?

You have mentioned a DR.L.H.DAMMANN who possibly married an Elizabeth Musselman. From what I have learned so far, I believe DR. L.H. DAMMANN is my great great great grandfather, an physician from Austria. The 'L' stood for LEO. He may well have been married more than once from what I have been able to find out. I am planning on hitting the MARYLAND Archieves. The 1880 census has his surname misspelled with the addition of a 'W' at the end. DAMMANNW. Go figure. (And) the place of birth listed as Prussia, which encompassed part of what is present day Austria. The boundaries of Germany/Prussia/Austria/Bavaria have been re-done numerous times since 1800.

I'm currently re-researching the Wintrode family and was doing some research on Rufus Henry Wintrode when I found your information. Don't mean to be critical, but Rufus was the son of just straight Jacob Wintrode, not Jacob Jackson Wintrode. Jacob Jackson Wintrode was actually Rufus's half-brother - born to Jacob and Eliza Menchey Wintrode and full brother of my great grandmother, Salena Wintrode Greenholt.
Would be glad to further discuss this, is your interested.

Hi,
I was very interested in your histories...enjoyed reading the articles about the people in your family.
I have an interest in the Hoffacker family of Carroll Co. MD and I believe back to York, PA. My husbands grandmother was a Hoffacker..Virginia Susan Hoffacker Hanson, she was married to Walter Hanson in Manchester Maryland.
My husband and I have seven children and one of my daughters is trying to get information on the Hoffackers in order to gain entrance into the DAR. She was advised it might be easier to try the Hoffacker side...I believe David Hoffacker's father was a Jacob and his father a Johannes and thats about all I can come up with...but no dates of birth or what if anything they did.

Can you possibly provide any assistance.

Thanks very much.

Alice, your Bixler page is wonderful, especially the information about Jacob Sr. Thank you for your efforts.
My father, Lorance Bixler Evers, was positive that our Bixler relatives were peaceful, fun-loving people. He was told stories by his Mother and Grandparents that would back that up. I think some proof comes from the way his grandparents, Andrew Jackson Bixler and Susan Emeline Wohrer, named their children:
Mildren Norene, Myrtle Sylvene,
Vera Pearl, Victor Earl,
Bertha Estelle, Audry Larelle,

With the help of a fifth cousin who found me on the internet, I have information for Eberhardts (glassblowers) of Germany who came to America (Pennsylvania). As this is my work e-mail address, I do not have family information with me, but I may tie to you through Bixler name also. My great-great grandmother's maiden name was Elizabeth Bixler, who was born in Pennsylvania and married Francis Reed Johnson. They then moved to Rock Island County, Illinois.
