I am searching for My g-g-grandparents' famiy. G-g-grandfather was John Mckay -lived in Temperancevile,Pa which later got swallowed up by Allegheny City and then by Pittsburgh. He was killed at the Battle of Fredricksburg (1862). His wife, Jane, died in a kitchen fire shortly before her husband died. Their children were taken to Allegheny Asylum. The oldest girl, Mary Jane, was adopted by a family named Clansy (borough of Bellevue) and later married a man named A.M. Davis, The youngest, Margaret, was indentured to a family named Foster and later to a family named Jones, although not adopted. She married my g-grandfather James William Gittings in 1880. I have heard the 2 boys, Daniel and William, were riverboat captains, one being portrayed in one of Mark Twain's books and that they both died in an influenza epidemic. This, however has not been verified. If anyone has any connection to this family and can give some insight into when they came from Scotland or their families I would grestly appreciate the information. Thanks in advance- Becky
